Oppo has officially entered the smartwatch market with the introduction of the all-new Oppo Watch, powered by the Google Wear OS. The new smartwatch does have similarities of an Apple Watch with respect to design but in Android flavours and comes with different screen sizes.
The Oppo Watch is powered by two different chipsets. It has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 Wear processor to handle the Google Wear OS and another chip called the Ambiq Micro Apollo 3 SoC to power the low-power mode of the smartwatch. This dual-boot mode brings the flexibility to save battery with just the essentials like time, notifications, and alarms with the low-power mode while the Wear OS brings all the goodness of the Android features such as Google Pay, OK Google capability, Google Fit, and more. The device comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage.
The device comes in 46mm and 41mm versions. The 46mm model comes with a 1.91-inch AMOLED dual-curved display with 402 x 476 as the screen resolution and 326 PPI, while the 41mm comes with a 1.6-inch OLED display, 301 PPI and with a screen resolution of 320 x 360 pixels. Both the Oppo Watch features a 6000-series aluminum alloy body. The 46mm model comes with a plastic/ceramic surface on its rear side and the 41mm model with a plastic-only rear side. The Oppo Watch 46mm comes in WiFi or LTE variants with e-SIM support and the Oppo Watch 41mm as a WiFi-only model. The 46mm model also features water resistance up to 50 meters and the 41m model is also water-resistant up to 30 meters.
The device also brings support for GPS + GLONASS location tracking and is able to track activities such as running, bike rides, outdoor walks, swimming, 24-hour heart rate sensor, sleep tracker, and more. The smartwatch is also preloaded with 5-minute workout routines to help wake you up, burn up fat, relax and more. The 24-hour heart rate sensor features four optical sensors for the best accuracy.
The Oppo Watch 46mm features a 430 mAh battery in which the company claims that you can get about 46% of charge in 15 minutes and 100% in just 75 minutes. The smaller 41mm model comes with a 300 mAh battery and can reach 30% battery capacity in 15 minutes via wireless charging. Other features of the smartwatch include message notifications, online music streaming, schedule management, quick replies, locate your phone, and more. Oppo has also added another feature where the AI of the smartwatch is capable of creating a watch face based on the outfit that you wear for the day. Simply snap a picture of yourself and the AI will be able to generate a matching watch face via the smartwatch application.
