Review: ASUS V241 All-In-One PC

The popularity of AiO PCs in homes, offices, and educational institutes has increased over the years, thanks to its simplistic design that saves a lot of disk space and the ease of setting it up. We take a look at the latest ASUS V241 All-in-one PC and see how it performs, along with its design characteristics and features.

Design

ASUS is already known for its stylish monitors that feature thin bezels and the same goes for the new ASUS V241 AiO. While the display is only 23.8-inch in size, the bezels of the screen are hardly 2mm thick and the screen-to-body ratio is 88%. This means users will experience edge-to-edge visuals, making the most out of the screen estate and ASUS calls it the NanoEdge display.

The IPS panel also features Full HD screen resolution where users will be able to enjoy watching movies, viewing images, and doing desk work in great detail, color, and contrast. While the digital world moves towards higher resolutions, Full HD is still one of the most common resolutions used by the majority of consumers.

The display also offers 178-degree viewing angles, thanks to the IPS display, and the screen comes with 100% sRGB coverage. ASUS has also implemented the Splendid technology and Tru2Life that helps to produce true colors on images and videos such as true skin tones and clear blue skies. The screen also has an anti-glare coating to remove reflections that can hinder your viewing experience.

ASUS has placed the webcam below the screen where the ASUS logo resides. We have seen such designs on certain laptops such as the Dell XPS 13 series. However, cameras that are located on the bottom do not exactly give a good angle view during video calls and conferences. The participants would be seeing a video transmission of you from below. We wish that ASUS could have placed the camera on the top side. Apart from that, the webcam has support for Windows Hello scanning and the video quality is good.

The AiO also comes with two bottom-facing stereo speakers under the display. ASUS claims that the speaker chambers are 2.7x times larger than the previous generation ASUS AiO systems. The new speaker system also features an advanced bass-reflex design to produce powerful bass and clear audio at full range.

The audio is also enhanced further with ASUS SonicMaster for rich bass and crystal clear vocals. The ASUS AudioWizard app allows users to choose between five audio modes such as movie mode, gaming mode, recording mode, speech mode, and music mode. ASUS also placed an audio jack, a display mode button, and a USB 2.0 port on the bottom right side of the display. The main power button is located on the rear side.

The ASUS AiO V241 also comes with a unique and stylish integrated stand that is made of aluminum. ASUS says that the design of the stand is based on the Chinese character 人, which translates to human. The stand features a hinge to hold the display firmly, allowing users to tilt the display easily. The stand also adds style to the entire PC and suits any modern interior setup. The new AiO comes in two different colors: White/Silver and Black/Gold. We got the Black and Gold combination for review.

The rear side of the system is plain black in color with the ASUS logo and several ports. There are four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, one HDMI 1.4 in, one HDMI 1.4 out, one RJ45 LAN port, and the power connection.

ASUS also has included a wireless keyboard and mouse with the package. The chiclet keyboard is pleasant to use with a comfortable typing experience. The keyboard features key travel of 2.5mm and the spacing between the keys is 3.2mm. Both the mouse and keyboard offer long battery life and are based on the 2.4 GHz wireless radio.

Specifications and Performance

The ASUS V241 AiO comes with impressive specifications that should be able to handle any of tasks done from home, for education, office jobs, entertainment, and more. Inside the system is the Intel 11th generation Intel i5-1135G7 quad-core processor that runs at 2.4GHz speeds. The system also features 8GB DDR4 RAM, which should be sufficient for most of the normal day-to-day tasks, although, we wish it had 16GB RAM.

Our review unit also came with the 256GB Samsung MZVLQ256HAJD-0000 NVMe SSD with Windows 10 Pro installed and a 1TB SATA drive for mass storage. Users will be able to install the apps on the NVMe drive for fast loading times and store movies, music, images, and other files on the secondary hard disk drive. With our usage of the AiO, the system performed well and we did not see any slowdowns. That said, it doesn’t mean you will straight away try any heavy-duty work as this PC is meant purely for home use. It should also be noted that this system does not have any discrete graphics depends on the Intel Iris Xe iGPU.

The system also comes with the Intel AC 9560 AC Wireless chip so users will be able to take advantage of faster internet connections. To test the system performance, we tried certain benchmark tools such as Cinebench R23, PC Mark 10, and GeekBench 5 for CPU performance, CystakDiskMark for SSD speed test, and FireSrike/Night Raid for GPU tests. Take a look at the scores below.

We got respectable performance scores of 924 single-core and 4692 for multi-core on CineBench R23. Our PCMark 10 Extended scores are 3649 points, 2260 points for FireStrike, 10290 points for Night Raid, 4214 points for GeekBench 5 multi-core test, and 1361 points for GeekBench 5 single-core test. We also got 11647 points for GeekBench 5 Vulkan GPU test and 11712 points for GeekBench 5 OpenCL GPU tests. Our CrystalDiskMark test indicated that the SSD drive did a read speed of 1769MB/s, and for write speeds, we got 975MB/s as the test results.

Verdict

If you’re looking for an affordable PC for your home or office needs, then the ASUS V241 All-In-One PC is a good choice to consider. The V241 AiO comes with a 24-inch IPS display with almost invisible bezels that helps users to see visuals with more screen estate. The colors of the display are great with Full HD resolution. The dual speakers of the system are loud and clear and there is a front-facing camera that supports Windows Hello.

The system comes with a wireless chiclet keyboard and mouse with a color to match the system. The device runs on the latest Intel 11th generation processor with sufficient memory and fast SSD storage, along with the latest in wireless internet technology. The AiO also comes with several high-speed USB ports, HDMI in/out, and RJ45 LAN connections.
