While Apple still is the leading brand for tablets, there are some companies that still want a piece of the market. With Huawei already offering some of the best smartphones, the company is also preparing a high-end tablet to take on the likes of Apple and Samsung.
According to a leakster, the upcoming MatePad tablet would feature a 12.9-inch OLED display. As the trend of thin bezels among smartphones and tablets are rising, the rumored tablet is said to also feature the same kind of design. It’s also said that the display won’t have a punch-hole front-facing camera, which could indicate the fact that it may have some sort of under-display camera, or perhaps the pop-up camera. These are unconfirmed rumors so do take them with a grain of salt.
The source also reveals that the display will also feature a 120Hz refresh rate. High-refresh rates are now a thing among smartphones so this is no surprise. It is also mentioned that the 12.9-inch MatePad would run the “PadOS”, which is supposedly based on Huawei’s Harmony OS software. The Harmony OS is seen as the successor of the famous EMUI 11. The tablet is also said to be powered by the Kirin 9000 SoC. However, there is a good chance the new tablet will not come with Google Play services, which will be a huge letdown for many users.
The new Huawei MatePad with a 12.9-inch OLED 120Hz display is said to be announced along with the upcoming Huawei P50 series flagship smartphones that are expected to go official early next year.
