LG announces its first 48-inch UltraGear gaming monitor with OLED panel and 120Hz refresh rate

While LG’s OLED TVs such as the CX and C1 TVs are quite popular for their gaming performance with PCs and game consoles, the company has now announced a new 48-inch OLED monitor called the UltraGear 48GQ900.

Features such as the LG’s WOLED panels and HDMI 2.1 port with a 120Hz refresh rate are something both the LG OLED TVs and the new UltraGear 48GQ900 have in common. And since it’s a dedicated monitor, LG has included DisplayPort 1.4 and 10-bit for all the PC users out there, along with the VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) that comes in handy if you use an Xbox Series X.

The borderless design of the new UltraGear 48GQ900 is very similar to the preset range of UltraGear monitors, along with the usual RGB lighting that is located on the rear side of the display. As a gaming monitor, you would expect the performance to be better than television. LG mentions that the new monitor features a response time of 1ms but only for GTG (Gray-to-Gray). However, there is no mention of the response time based on the metrics of MPRT. Reports also indicate that the monitor could possibly be able to perform with a refresh rate of 138Hz.

That said, OLED panels are known to feature faster performance and lower latency, along with deep blacks and high contrast. Other features include built-in speakers, 98.5% DCI-P3 color coverage with HDR. However, we aren’t sure yet about the HDR specifications of the monitor. The monitor is expected to hit the shelves later this year and we have yet to know the pricing and release date in the UAE.
