While major smartphone players have already released numerous foldable smartphones, vivo has also unveiled its very own foldable flagship device and it is called the Vivo X Fold.
The design of the new vivo X Fold is similar to the ones released by Samsung and Huwaei, featuring the same transformation from a normal mode to a tablet mode. When unfolded, the AMOLED E5 display is 8.03-inch-inch in size. And in the folded position, the outer AMOLED display is 6.53-inch in size. Both the inner and outer displays have support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The main screen also has the capability to downclock its refresh rate to 1Hz.
vivo mentions that the new device uses ultra-thin glass, simply known as SCHOTT UTG. An interesting design feature of the device is there are two in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanners. vivo also included an aircraft-grade floating wing hinge so the device can be closed flat and also open at angles between 60 degrees and 120 degrees. Powering the smartphone is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and paired with 12GB of RAM.
The vivo X Fold also houses a large 4600 mAh battery with support for a 66W fast charge with the included cable. The device also comes with 50W wireless charging capability and 10W for reverse charge. The device also features multiple high-end camera modules with the main shooter housing a 50MP sensor with f/1.8 as the aperture. The sensor is the 1/1.57-inch Samsung GN5. The other shooters include a 12MP f/2.4 with 2X zoom, a 5x based periscope sensor, and a 48MP f/2.2 for ultrawide photography. The smartphone has dual selfie cameras, one of which is on the outer area, and the other in the unfolded portion.
There is no word yet on when the new vivo X Fold will hit the UAE stores. But for now, the device is scheduled to release initially as an exclusive to China. The smartphone will come in Blue, Black and Grey colors.
