Microsoft introduces the AI-based Surface Laptop and Surface Pro

Microsoft has unveiled the latest generation Surface Laptop 7th edition and the Surface Pro 11th edition devices, powered by Qualcomm’s latest ARM-based Snapdragon X Elite chipsets and CoPilot+PC AI companion.

Surface plays a key role in the Windows ecosystem, as we design software and hardware together to deliver innovative designs and meaningful experiences to our customers and fans. We are introducing the first-ever Copilot+ PCs from Surface: The all-new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop.

One of the most notable changes is the new redesigned chassis and the thinner bezels on the Surface Laptop 13.8-inch and 15-inch models. Thanks to the slimmer screen bezels, the touchscreen is now 13.-inch PixelSense Flow Display, with a resolution of 2304 x 1536 resolution, and up to 120Hz refresh rate, while still retaining the 3:2 aspect ratio. The 15-inch PizelSense Flow sports a screen resolution of 2496 x 1664, again with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 3:2 aspect ratio. Both the 13.8-inch and 15-inch Surface Laptop models come with support for Dolby Vision IQ and Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The Surface Laptop 13.8-inch model weighs around 1.34kg, while the 15-inch model weighs 1.66kg. The devices also use Omnisonic Speakers with Dolby Atmos and support for Dual Studio Mics. The front-facing cameras now feature 1080p Full HD Surface Studio sensors with support for Window Studio-based automatic framing, creative filters, and more. The new model also features two USB-C ports, one USB-A 3.1 port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The laptops also come with support for the latest Bluetooth 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless connectivity.

Microsoft also claims that the new laptops that come powered by the Snapdragon X Elite processors offer exceptional battery life and performance over the previous generation Surface Laptops. Users will be able to choose between 16GB/32GB LPDDR5X RAM and SSD storage of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB. The Surface Pro 2-in1 tablets also come with Snapdragon X Elite processors, and the same storage options as the new Surface Laptops. The new Surface Pro comes with an OLED option and an LCD option, both featuring a 13-inch PixelSense Flow display, 2880 x 1920 screen resolution, 3:2 aspect ratio. The contrast ratio of the OLED option is 1M:1, as compared to the 1200:1 of the LCD option.

The Surface Pro also weighs 895 grams and the front-facing camera features a 1440p Quad HD Surface Studio Camera, along with a rear-facing 10MP camera shooter. The device also sports 2W stereo speakers with support for Dolby Atmos and Bluetooth LE audio. The tablet also comes with two USB-C ports, WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

The new Surface Pro Flex Keyboard is the first 2-in-1 keyboard designed to be used both attached or detached. It delivers enhanced stability, with Surface Slim Pen storage and charging integrated seamlessly, as well as a quiet, haptic touchpad.

The Surface Laptop is touted to offer 20 hours of video playback, while the Surface Pro can run up to 14 hours of video playback. Both the new Surface Laptop and the Surface Pro come in four colors including Sapphire, Dune, Black, and Platinum colors. The new laptops also come with Windows’s latest AI features such as Recall, Windows Studio Effects, Live Captions, and more.
