Review: Honeywell Air Touch V1 Air Purifier

User Rating: 8.6

Honeywell air purifiers are known for their simplistic design and effective purification performances. Their latest addition is the Air Touch V1, an affordable mid-range air purifier that is designed for smaller rooms or spaces. We got a chance to review this device, and here are our thoughts about it.

The new Honeywell Air Touch V1 air purifier comes in a cylindrical chassis, where the upper motor housing is white in color, while the bottom housing with intake air vents comes in a light grey color scheme. The intake air vent holes are seen all around the device, and there is a power connector on the rear side of the device. The Honeywell logo is also located on the front side. The device features a dimension of 216 x 216 x 322 mm, and the purifier weighs 1.5 kg, which should be easy to relocate its position around the home or office.

The top portion of the air purifier features the air exhaust vents that push the purified and filtered air outwards, and there is also the touch-sensitive control panel on the top side. You will be able to control the fan speed, and turn on/off the device. There is also an LED indicator for the filter, that lights up in red, when the filter needs replacement.

To separate the upper and bottom housings, users will need to turn the handle that is located on the bottom panel of the air purifier. The process is simple and straightforward, where you only need to turn the handle in an anti-clockwise fashion, and you can access the filters easily.

As you can see below, the housings can be detached easily, and the air filter can be replaced with no complications. I did notice that the air purifier’s upper motor section can still run, even when it is detached, which indicates that there is no detection if the filter is present or not. I have come across other air purifier brands where the device will not run until the components are kept back in place.

We had the chance to try out the air purifier for almost two weeks, and we are impressed with its performance. The filter used here consists of a 3-stage filtration system, which includes a Pre-Filter, a H13 HEPA Filter, and an Activated Carbon Compound Filter. With the presence of these three filter layers (especially the HEPA), the device can remove up to 99.97% pollutants efficiently. The activated carbon filter helps clean up household based odors, smoke, and fumes. The Pre-Filter can capture heavier items such as hair and fur, and the H13 TRUE HEPA can capture airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns in size (dust, smoke, pollen, and pet dander). Honeywell mentions that the filter can last for about 9000 hours or about one year of usage. The left image below is how the filter looked out of the box, while the right image showcases the filter after almost two weeks of use.

The air purifier can be barely heard, even when the fan speeds are set to the maximum (unless you are standing next to it). The noise level during its silent and maximum fan speed modes is 29 dB/A, and 51 dB/A, respectively. When it comes to coverage area, this little purifier can take care of up to 235 sq.ft. Honeywell claims that the CADR level of the purifier is 152 m³/h, which should suit small and medium-sized rooms. The contents of the packaging include the Air Touch V1 air purifier, the 3-level filter, a power adapter, a user manual, a warranty card, and a Thank You card. We should also mention that the purifier does not feature any wireless connectivity option, where users can control the device with a smartphone application.

Verdict

The Honeywell Air Touch V1 is a good choice for those looking for an affordable and lightweight air purifier for small to midsized rooms. The device comes with a white/grey combo chassis, and the housing can be easily detached to access the filter. Honeywell has included a 3-stage filter that ensures the air is purified. The filter features a Pre-Filter, a H13 HEPA Filter, and an Activated Carbon Compound Filter.

The filter is designed to last for about a year, or about 9000 hours of use. The device is quiet, even when the fan settings are set to the maximum. There are three different levels of fan speeds that can be adjusted from the top-side, touch-sensitive control panel. While the device does not come with any smart features or wireless connectivity, the device weighs only 1.5 kg, allowing users to easily relocate the air purifier in their homes or office spaces.
