Review: Amazon Echo Show 8 (2025)

User Rating: 9

Amazon recently unveiled its latest range of Echo devices, which also includes the new Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 11. We received the new Amazon Echo 8 (2025) for review, and here are our thoughts about it.

Design

Amazon has introduced some noticeable design changes for the latest Echo Show 8 2025 Edition. Compared to the previous third- generation model, the new Echo Show 8 features a thinner display and screen bezels. The screen features an 8.7-inch HD touchscreen panel and with 340 x 800 resolution as the resolution. The dimensions of the device are 210 mm W x 150 mm H x 130 mm D, and the unit weighs 1kg.

While the bezels are thinner than last generation, they’re not as thin as you would see on modern tablets. There is a 13 MP front-facing camera with auto-framing capability. There are two microphone holes placed on either side of the camera.

The physical controls are located on the right side, which includes the volume rockers and the microphone enable/disable button. This is a great addition to quickly disconnect the front camera and microphone from turning on. The Echo Show 8 comes in both graphite and white colors, and we got the latter color option for review.

The rear side of the tablet portion features the Echo insignia. The speaker design has also considerably changed as compared to the previous version. The speaker consists of a 2.8-inch woofer and two full-range drivers with spatial audio effects. The speaker portion is surrounded with a special 3D knit fabric covering.

The rear side also comes with the power port. Unfortunately, there is no USB-C port support for power delivery. The contents of the box include the new Echo Show 8, a 30W power adaptor with cable, and a quick start guide. Amazon also offers a stand for the smart speaker, which is sold separately.

Features

The new Echo Show 8 is powered by the AZ3 Pro processor with an AI Accelerator, along with an improved operating system with Amazon Alexa integration. You will need to set up the device using the Alexa app on your smartphone and your Amazon account. The device also has support for Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax).

The device also has support for Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) and smart home hub features such as Zigbee, Matter and Thread Border Router. When it comes to other smart home features, we were also able to sync with TP-Link Tapo devices to view our live video footage of security cameras.

The Echo Show 8 also allows you to watch the latest movies or programs from your Amazon Prime Video subscriptions, along with other video apps such as YouTube, Netflix, and more. The introduction of other dedicated apps other than Prime Video is a good addition for those who want to watch while making their favorite meals in the kitchen or doing some other work.

You will also be able to call other Amazon Echo devices to establish an audio or video call for family and friends. The Show 8 also allows users to connect their smartphones or devices for audio streaming with support for Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP).
