User Rating: 9.1

While rollable OLED technology concepts have been demonstrated in the past, Lenovo recently released a new laptop with rollable OLED screens. We got a chance to review the new Lenovo ThinkBook Plus G6 Rollable, and here are our thoughts about the device.

Design

While the ThinkBook Plus G6 Rollable looks like a traditional clamshell laptop, the laptop’s screen is designed to extend further. The laptop features a dimension of 303.5 x 230.6 x 19.9 mm, and the device weighs 1.69 kg. The chassis of the laptop features an aluminium CNC surface treatment, and the color of the device is Luna Grey.

The laptop comes with a rollable non-touch POLED panel, featuring 400 nits of brightness, a 100,000:1 contrast ratio, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, and a variable 10-120Hz refresh rate. When not extended, the screen size is 14 inches, with the screen resolution as 2000 x 1600. When the screen is rolled out, the panel is 16.7 inches of screen size, and the resolution increases to 2000 x 2350. Users will be able to see more content of the same page while browsing the web.

When the motor-driven display rolls out, it takes about half a minute or more for the process to finish, and this works even when Windows is in the booting screen too. Once the display rolls out fully, the widget window opens up for users to customize the new screen window, according to rheir preferences. There is also a slight noise of the motor when the display rolls in or out.

The laptop features two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports and one headphone/microphone jack on the left side, and the power button on the right that doubles as a fingerprint reader.

There is also the privacy button that disables the front-facing camera. The button is located on the top side of the lid for easy access. The screen lid is also designed in such a way that users can easily open the laptop.

The backlit keyboard features a 6-row design, along with multimedia Fn keys and a dedicated Copilot key. The keyboard also is spill-resistant, and key travel is 1.0 mm. The touchpad features a buttonless glass surface design and supports multi-touch gestures. There is also the ThinkBook logo on the right side of the palm rest area.

Both the top and bottom panels are made of aluminium. There are also the speaker grills on the bottom panel, along with an air vent for better cooling performance.
