The display features 10 point capacitive touch – for 10-finger control – and edge-to-edge glass for a brilliant interactive display experience. And because users are likely to interact from any angle, the SmoothTouch display uses advanced IPS technology for a 178° viewing angle. Essentially, users can work – and play – when viewing the screen from almost side on. IPS delivers vivid, accurate colours, and dazzling image clarity to enhance the viewing experience in both professional applications and fun apps.

The display can even play back audio and video in HD quality directly from an MHL-compatible mobile phone.
By freeing people from mouse and trackpad, the SmoothTouch display delivers a more ergonomic user experience. It also gives users more choice in terms of posture – better for health and wellbeing. The Philips display includes “SmartStand”: an adjustable stand that can be leaned back to almost 60 degrees on the desktop, placing it at the right angle for tap and swipe gestures. For conventional keyboard interaction, it can easily be moved upright.
The display is equally flexible in terms of connectivity: with SmartConnect, it includes HDMI and VGA connections, Display Port, plus USB 3.0 for ultra-fast data streaming and simultaneous charging of a Smartphone. The Philips 231C5 SmoothTouch display will be available in the first quarter of year 2014 across the Middle East region.
