Samsung has finally revealed its Galaxy S5 smartphone at an event during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The new Samsung flagship smartphone comes with a fingerprint sensor, which allows users to use mobile payment services such as PayPal. It also unlocks a secure Private Mode for storing important pictures or items.
In addition, the new Galaxy S5 also accompanies a heart rate sensor. The sensor is located on the back of the phone right under the camera. An image of the smartphone featured at the event shows a user placing his finger on top to measure his heart rate. Taking cue from LG’s G2 smartphone, the S5 comes with a Kids Mode, which will include apps and games tailored toward children.
Accoding to news reports, the Galaxy S5 will also include an Ultra Power Saving Mode, which transforms the colours display into a black-and-white look, and shuts down certain features to cut back on battery use. The smartphone will include a Download Booster that lets people download media using LTE and Wi-Fi at the same time. According to Samsung’s spokespersons, 1 GB of data can be download in 30 seconds on the phone.
under the hood, the Galaxy S5 runs on a 2.5-GHz quad-core processor and Android’s latest operating system Kitkat. The phone will either come with 16GB or 32GB of storage, with the option to expand to 64GB via microSD card. The phone will be commercially available worldwide in April 2014.
