Nokia seems to be back on track. The company recently announced its new “affordable flagship” that comes with a 5-inch HD display with customizable Glance Screen, the ability to type while wearing gloves, and enhanced sunlight readability. The company sent us the Lumia 830 also comes with Windows Phone 8.1 that features Cortana, for review at Review Central Labs.
The Lumia 830 is Microsoft’s cheapest handset ever to offer Nokia’s PureView imaging technology. The PureView camera of the 830 is a 10-megapixel one with Optical Image Stabilization, Zeiss optics, LED flash, and 1080p video recording.
Running Windows Phone 8.1 with the very latest Lumia Denim update, the 830 comes with Cortana, Microsoft Office, Action Center, Word Flow, and 15GB of free OneDrive storage space. Other features include LTE connectivity, NFC, a 5-inch display with 720-by-1280 pixels, quad-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of expandable internal memory.
The new handset weighs 150 grams, measures 139.4 x 70.7 x 8.5 mm (this making it the thinnest Lumia yet), and includes a 2200 mAh battery. Several colour versions are also available, including white, black, green, and orange.
Driving the phone is a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU with an Adreno 305 GPU handling graphics. The phone also comes with a microSD card slot which lets you expand its storage capacity by up to 128GB. The 10-megapixel rear-facing camera has an aperture of f/2.2, which allows you to snap some decent shots under low-light conditions.
And with OIS, your trembling hands don’t make watching your videos a painful experience. A .9MP camera is also found on the front of the phone, for those who like taking selfies.
The performance of the device is overall quite good. The stand out feature is the PureView imaging technology embedded on to the device, which allows users to take some good looking images. Some might though find the price to be a bit expensive.
