The Oneplus X looks and feels like a miniature Oneplus one. A little smaller in length, breadth, and also height, the Oneplus X is a lot easier to handle than its other counterparts. The device is built on a metal frame, features a glass back, and is curved at the edges. Available in two colors, ceramic and onyx, the phone does not provide a plethora of color choices.
The ceramic one looks a little supreme compared to the onyx one, but is costlier as well. The device features a 5-inch full HD-Amoled screen that is visually pleasing, and enables comfortable viewing at different angles. Also, the phone comes with a company installed screen protector.
The buttons are also efficiently placed, with the volume rockers and power button on the right side, and Oneplus’s ‘alert slider’ on the left. The alert slider can be used to quickly switch between phones modes and control the amount of notifications, which make it a pretty useful feature.
The glass back looks amazing, but catches fingerprints and smudges almost instantly. The charging port located at the bottom of the device is a micro- USB one. A USB C would’ve been nicer. The speaker grille sits at the bottom of the device, while the 3.5mm jack is placed at the top. Overall, the phone looks stellar, and feels amazing in hand.
Powered by a quad-core Qualcomm snapdragon 801 chipset with a clock speed of 2.3 GHz, and an adreno 330 GPU, the phone does not offer the latest and most advanced hardware, but is quite capable of handling all sorts of tasks with efficiency. The phone is also backed up by 3GB of RAM, offers an internal storage of 16GB, and runs at a 2525mAh non-removable battery.
The Oneplus X is a dual-SIM phone that supports 4G connectivity on both Sims. However, the second SIM is hybrid, and doubles up as a slot for expandable storage of up to 128GB. The phone also supports connectivity via Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS. A little downside is that the phone does not support NFC.
The device runs on the company’s very own Oxygen OS 2.0 which is similar to stock android lollipop. The Oneplus X delivers strong performance at the offered price, and its interface is also quite nice.
The rear shooter is a 13 megapixel one with an aperture of f/2.2 and single tone flash. It can record full HD videos at normal settings, and can also capture slow motion videos at 720p. The device also features an 8 megapixel front camera that has an aperture of f/2.4. The front shooter is also capable of recording videos at 1080p.
Both the cameras are capable of capturing beautiful indoor as well as outdoor shots. The cameras capture vibrant and sharp images at low lighting as well. Unfortunately, the cameras fail to capture noise free and highly detailed images, even without zooming. However, the camera quality is satisfactory at the phone’s price range.
Oneplus X has not failed to live up to its expectations, just like the Oneplus One and Oneplus two. However, the phone faces heating issues which lower its battery life, and also, the camera could have been better. Overall, the Oneplus X is an amazing phone, and the pros more than outweigh the cons.
