Review: Bose QuietComfort 35

A conversation about premier noise-cancellation headphones is incomplete without the mention of Bose. Given the rise of wireless headphones, Bose has blessed music lovers worldwide by launching its first ever noise-canelling wireless headphones. Yes, the Bose Quiet Comfort 35 are the ones. The reason wireless headphones are so much in demand is that the era of the 3.55mm audio jack is about to end.

The Bose QuietComfort 35 are one of the most comfortable headphones that deliver on the performance front. Well, nothing less was expected from a brand like Bose. The design of the Bose QuietComfort 35 is not a completely new one. A lot of design elements are anologous to the QuietComfort 25.

The body of these headphones is mixture of plastic and metal. Metal makes the shell of the ear cups. The rest, including the headband is made up of a sturdy plastic. Everything is covered in faux-leather which makes these headphones highly comfortable. Two colour choices namely silver-grey and austere black are available.

The right ear-cup houses all the basic controls. The list of buttons includes the power button that also doubles up as the Bluetooth control button, volume controls and the multi-function button that can be used to control music playback, activate voice commands and receive phone calls.

The Bose QuietComfort 35 come pre-loaded with a case that can be used to keep the headphones safely when they are not in use. Frequent travellers can also find a 3.55mm cable in the box which can be used to use the headphones even if the battery dies. Weighing just 234 grams, the QuietComfort 35’s are pretty lightweight. These headphones come with active noise cancellation. Just like in other Bose headphones, noise cancellation is simply brilliant.

The Bose QuietComfort 35 simply defy convention! Despite being noise cancelling headphones, they deliver exceptional sound quality. Bose has also incorporated a digital equalizer with the QC35s. The equalizer automatically makes necessary changes to ensure the best possible music playback.

Even at low volumes, the active noise cancellation works its magic. Low frequency nois eis completely eliminated from the equation. However, some high freaquency sounds can still be heard, even with active noise cancellation. It is a good thing though, as sounds like the siren of an ambulance won’t go unnoticed. The bass is pretty alive, but it does not interfere with the treble and mid-range. Even at low volumes, the bass does not fade away.

The QC35s can run even with a dead bettery, but the audio quality suffers at that point. With no juice left in the battery, the equalizer and the active noise cancellation fades away. The QC35s don’t have any automatic shutdown capability. However, the Bose quick connect can be used to send up a shutdown timer that provides options ranging from 5 minutes to 3 hours. After a full charge, the Bose QuietComfort 35 can last up to 20 hours.

The QC35s are amazing wireless noise cancelling headphones that offer superior sound quality and a satisfactory battery life as well. Bose has nailed it yet again!
