Dell EMC to Focus on Enterprise Storage Solutions at GITEX 2016

Habib Mahakian, the Vice President for Gulf and Pakistan at Dell EMC, speaks about the company’s participation at GITEX this year.

Are you participating at GITEX Technology Week this year?
Yes, we are pleased to announce our participation at GITEX Technology Week this year. The completion of the Dell and EMC merger has created the world’s largest privately-controlled tech company – Dell Technologies. Dell Technologies aims to provide the essential infrastructure for organizations to build their digital future, transform IT and protect their most important asset, i.e. information.

What are your plans for GITEX Technology Week this year?
With the completion of the Dell and EMC merger, GITEX will be an excellent platform to showcase our combined strengths in the fastest-growing areas of the industry which includes hybrid cloud, software-defined data centre, converged infrastructure, platform-as-a-service, data analytics, and mobility. At Dell EMC, we are well-positioned to enable our customers to embrace a digital future and shift the status quo. Moreover, with our industry leading integrated solutions we aim to help our customers eliminate IT complexities and maintain a level of independence that facilitates the creation of their own IT ecosystem.

What technology and market trends have you seen this year on the Middle East market?
The Middle East IT spending is forecast to reach $212.9 billion this year, which is a 3.7% increase from 2015, according to Gartner. Despite geo-political complexities in few countries, the region is witnessing a strong economic growth. Organizations across the Middle East are making a concerted effort to change the way IT is consumed and delivered. They are poised to add more value to their conversations with customers by fostering a cross-functional collaboration between IT and innovation.

This paradigm shift is a result of the growing business demands and the dynamic changes in customer expectations. This has also led IT to assume a primary position across all business functions, urging organizations to deploy advanced technologies and emerging IT solutions to meet their long-term business goals. Furthermore, IT spending and usage has increased across the region in order to deliver IT as a service.

Also, digital transformation has been the driving force across the region and has given rise to new revenue channels and competencies. In the wake of digitization of services, flash storage, hybrid cloud, and software-defined data centre (SDDC) are taking centre stage as organizations intend to move from a traditional siloed IT infrastructure to a virtualized infrastructure. We think the need for organizations to adapt to this new data-driven world is driving the adoption of powerful enterprise IT.

What sort of channel engagements have you planned for GITEX?
In order to help organizations realize their IT vision, it is imperative that the channel is supported with flexible strategies and best-in-class technology solutions. We are focused on ensuring that our partners deliver industry-leading Dell EMC products to meet the breadth and depth of customer IT challenges. According to Gartner, 125,000 large-scale organizations are in the midst of launching digital initiatives and the CEOs expect their digital revenue to increase more than 80% by 2020.

Digital transformation has prompted a radical shift in the market and has given rise to new business models and revenue streams. Therefore, we aim to lead the market with our emerging technologies and solutions that support organizations of every size at every stage of digital transformation and help the channel focus on these new breed of business opportunities.

How does GITEX Technology Week fit into your overall regional strategies?
GITEX has always been the focal point for key IT players across the region. This platform provides us with an excellent opportunity to not only showcase our unparalleled strength in R&D and advanced IT solutions but also interact with our current and prospective partners and customers. Dell EMC has always been at the forefront of delivering the best-of-breed technologies and we are committed to ensuring our partners and customers can leverage these advanced solutions to avail new efficiencies and capitalize on new opportunities.
