Reporting from Lisbon, Portugal: Porsche Design is well known for its design-intensive products brought to the market through partnerships with companies such as BlackBerry and Huawei. The company is now going a step further and getting into the detachables market by launching its new Porsche Design BOOK ONE 2-in-1 detachable laptop.
At the IFA Global Press Conference here in Lisbon, Dr. Jan Becker, the CEO of Porsche Design Group, gave us insights into the product, its pricing and its expected availability. The BOOK ONE is the first laptop offering from the company.
With a 2-in-1 design, the laptop screen is detachable, converting it into a tablet for mobile use. The BOOK ONE features a unique hinge design, which the company calls VarioHinge. According to Dr. Becker, the VarioHinge was inspired by the gearbox of a sports car and gives the device its flexibility.
The BOOK ONE features a 7th Generation Intel i7-7500U processor running at a clock speed of 2.70 GHz. This processor can also be further overclocked to up to 3.50 GHz. Under the hood, the BOOK ONE features 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD hard drive, and two lithium-polymer batteries capable of 14 hours of operation. This battery, according to the company, will take less than two hours to fully charge.
The BOOK ONE has been finished off with polished edges, a silver sandblasted surface, and sleek overall aesthetic which is the calling card of Porsche Design. The Porsche Design BOOK ONE will be available at a price of 2795 Euros (AED 11,320 approx.), starting last week of this month.
