HMD Global has been looking to launch a new Nokia series after the launch of its Nokia 3,5, and 6. It has been reportedly been preparing to debut the company’s flagship device which is called the Nokia 8 touted to the Android alternative to Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, featuring dual-camera systems and powerful hardware like Snapdragon 835 chip.
According to a report from German site WinFuture reveals more details about the Nokia 8, pointing out that the launch of the device could take place as soon as this month. This means the phone could see the light of day by the end of this month. This also means the phone could see daylight in the next two weeks.
Nokia 8 is codenamed TA-1004 and will likely be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, the same chip that’s at the heart of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and OnePlus 5. So the 835 is one of the top processors in the market right now and this means HMD is looking to compete against the flagships with its new model.
The specifications will be 4GB of RAM, but reports have also indicated a 6GB variant as well. Internal storage will be pegged at 64GB storage with microSD support. The Nokia 8 is stated to feature a Quad HD 5.3-inch display with a resolution of 1440×2560, but then again there are reports that a larger screen could be used as well.
There is a chance that Nokia could also embrace the trend with narrow bezels and bigger screen-to-body ratio. Also, Nokia is also reportedly going to feature a dual-camera system powered by Zeiss, with HMD hoping it could position its device as a rival to the iPhone 7 Plus.
