OPPO has officially unveiled its latest generation of smartphones called the F17 and the F17 Pro. Both the new smartphones feature a similar design and specifications, with the Pro version sporting a slightly more powerful chipset under its hood.
The new smartphones weigh just 160g and are 7.5mm thick. OPPO mentions that the design of the smartphone features a curvature on the sides and the rear side, so users will be able to comfortably hold the devices. Both the new smartphones packs a large 4015 mAh battery and features the new VOOC 4.0 fast charge support with up to 30W of charge. To protect the battery from degradation, the smartphone has a feature called the AI Night Charging, which achieves 100% charge by the time you wake up in the morning. OPPO claims that with just five minutes of charge, the F17 Pro can run YouTube for 2 hours straight or let you play PUBG for over half an hour.
The OPPO F17 Pro packs the MediaTek Helio P95 processor, with its GPU capable of low-latency graphics rendering with a lag-free experience while being able to generate sharp HDR textures. The chip works alongside 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone runs on the Android 10 based Color OS 7.2 user interface.
The F17 Pro holds a large 6.43-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p+ as its screen resolution. The display features an aspect ratio of 20:9 with 60Hz as its refresh rate, which is a bit low as compared to the new smartphones released during the last few months. The screen is shielded with Gorilla Glass 3+ and there is a punch-hole camera on the front, packing a 16MP image sensor for selfies.
The rear side features a total of four different cameras, with one holding a 48MP shooter as the main camera with a 1/2″ sensor and F1.8 as the aperture. The second camera is an 8MP shooter for ultra-wide shots and the rest of the two cameras are 2MP monochromatic sensors. OPPO makes use of AI algorithms and effects for portrait modes and selfies. The camera produces bokeh or able to convert to black and white background, while you remain in color in the picture. The smartphone also features the AirGestures, where users will be able to easily answer their calls without the need to touch the screen.
The base model called the OPPO F17, features the same 6.4-inch AMOLED display but with a screen resolution of 1080p. On the front, the smartphone has a selfie camera as a teardrop design as compared to the punch-hole design of the F17 Pro. The selfie camera holds a 16MP shooter. The rear camera remains the same as the Pro version, except for the fact that the main 48 MP shooter is replaced by a 16MP sensor with F2.2 as its aperture.
The OPPO F17 is powered by a Snapdragon 662 chip and brings support for WiFi6 ax-based standards. On the contrary, the MediaTek chip on the F17 Pro can only support up to WiFi 5 speeds (ac standards. The OPPO F17 comes in 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage and 8GB RAM/128GB storage models.
