HP has officially announced its latest addition called the Spectre x360 14, featuring a 3:2 aspect ratio display that is similar to the likes of Microsoft Surface products. The new model is seen as a successor to the Spectre x360 13 laptop.
The new Spectre x360 14 features a 13.5-inch display with 3000 x 2000 as its screen resolution. There will also be an OLED version of the laptop for a premium price tag. One of the main changes is the 3:2 aspect ratio that provides 20% more screen estate than the traditional 16:9 displays. This means you can view more content without the need to scroll down while browsing the web. The display also comes with an Auto Color functionality that changes between the DCI-P3, sRGB, and Adobe RGB color spaces. The company mentions that the new Spectre x360 14 is uniquely designed, featuring Bang & Olufsen quad-speakers for an immersive audio experience, a new touchpad that is 16% larger than the previous model, and the inclusion of a fast Thunderbolt 4 port that is placed in a diamond-shaped corner of the laptop.
The whole purpose of separating the Thunderbolt 4 port is to avoid blocking and tangling of wires if you plan to connect any device such as an all-in-one cable for charging, multiple external monitors, peripherals, and more. There is also a dedicated physical button on the keyboard to block the webcam from capturing anything. It’s more like a digital webcam shutter for privacy concerns.
The new machine is powered by the latest Intel 11th generation “Tiger Lake” processors and can be configured up to the quad-core i7-1165G7 processor with Intel’s Xe IGP. HP claims that the new chips can deliver up to 34 percent performance uplift when compared to the previous Spectre x360 13 laptops. HP has also included some smart features onto the laptop, including the ability to detect when you place the laptop on a bag. The laptop also uses the Intel Dynamic Tuning that helps to avoid battery drains or overheating problems.
For those depending on online meetings, the laptop features the AI Noise Removal that helps to remove background noise while using video conference apps such as Microsoft Teams and ZOOM. The Spectre x360 14 is capable of running up to 17 hours. However, the OLED model is said to only have a battery life up to 10 hours. Other features include WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. The HP Spectre x360 14 is said to come with a starting price of $1199 (Approx. 4500 AED).
