Amazon has a great line-up of Alexa-powered smart devices, and their latest addition is the recently launched Echo Spot (2024). We got a chance to try the new smart alarm, and here are our thoughts about it.
Design
The new Amazon Echo Spot is designed to blend with any surrounds in your home or office space. Along with its sleek design, the device comes with a 2.83-inch touchscreen color display, and with 320 x 240 as its screen resolution. While the front-facing area is completely circular, the top half is taken by the display and its bezels, while the bottom half features a 1.73-inch front-firing speaker. The device has a dimension of 113mm x 103mm x 111mm, and weighs 405g.
The mics and buttons are located on the top portion of the device. The buttons include the Volume up, Volume down, and Mic mute/unmute. The mute button is essential for those who prefer privacy, so the device does not listen or capture anything spoken in the room.
The power port is located on the rear side. However, I was surprised that the device does not use USB-C connections for power.
While the display is a bit small, the touchscreen panel is very responsive, and the menu layout is easy to use. Setting up the Echo Spot with the Amazon application is easy and straightforward. The Echo Spot 2024 model comes with the MT8519 processor, along with 1GB DRAM, and 8GB of eMMC storage. As for wireless connectivity, the device features dual-band WiFi support for 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks).
The latest Echo Spot’s speaker system is designed to provide rich sound, clear vocal, and deep bass effects. You can ask Alexa to play your favorite track lists, or the top hits of the week. Users will also be able to connect the Echo Spot as a Bluetooth speaker with other smartphones, while synced with the primary device. The Amazon Echo Spot also supports services such as Amazon Music, Spotity, Apple Music, Audible, iHeartRADIO, Pandora, and more. We should also mention that the front-firing speakers comes with support for Lossless High Definition.
Apart from asking Alexa to set your alarms and timers, your can also set up your routines such as turning on the lights on the porch at a specific time, lower the thermostat, and more. You can also control your smart devices, such as light bulbs, smart plugs, locks, fans , WiFi, thermostat, and more with the Echo Spot.

We recommend the Amazon Echo Spot (2024) for those who are planning to buy an Alexa-powered device, and a smart alarm clock. The device features a sleek design and comes in Black, Glacier White, and Ocean Blue colors. The 2.83-inch touchscreen color display is very responsive and features a screen resolution of 320 x 240. The 1.73-inch front-firing speaker produces great bass and audio effects.
Along with the volume controls on the top, there is also a dedicated mute/unmute button for those concerned about privacy. The Echo Spot can also be connected as a wireless speaker via Bluetooth. You can control your Alexa-compatible smart devices with the Echo Spot, and also command Alexa to answer most of your queries, play your favorite music tracks, schedule alarms, and more.
