Review: BenQ W2000

The BenQ W2000 is an easy to use DLP projector which is going to provide you quality Blu-ray-tuned performances which can easily change your experience of watching cinema at home. It is not so hefty or space consuming rather it can be fixed on a coffee table or a dining table and then you can have one of the best quality pictures on your wall. So, it doesn’t even require a screen or cables to connect to other devices. It is handy and can be used at home for a nice movie experience.

Besides having lens which is of short throw types and the easy set up, the projector has vibrant colours and also colour reproduction of HD quality. To reduce the acoustic sound, there is a thermal technique or system and the projector has Rec. 709 standard. The main attraction is the Blu-ray with which you have the best clarity in your movies and any other images etc.

The projector is able to make a hundred inch picture on the surface on which you want to project the image from a distance of around 2.5 metres. There is a 1.3x zoom ring surrounding the lens and there is the vertical lens which is above it. Both the lenses are behind a door which is sliding to keep the lenses protected and it also helps in making the image aligned.

The headphone connection jack is not there in the projector though there is in built speakers. But it would have been better if there was headphone slot. The USB slot is incapable of playing the digital media files from any kind of thumb drives which is a major drawback of the device.

The quality of the pictures is really good because of the Rec. 709 which is used for the projector’s cinema preset. The colours are very much distinctive and highlighted and there is 6-speed RGB colour wheel for the precision- calibration. But there is a little issue with the brightness and the levels of the black colour.

The projector is able to portray images on the wall or any other surface that you want in any time of the day, even during the day time when there is enough light outside. But for a better experience of the movies and other images, it is better to use in dark areas, so that you can be optimally benefitted from the projector’s Rec. 709 system.

The sound quality of the project is note worthy and it is distortion free. The sound is little loud in this projector even when the setting for the same is at the lowest levels.

The project is best suited for them who want to have easy to use projectors for their home. There are more efficient and accurate projectors of Blu-ray which are better than W2000 but this one is really impressive given the cost of the projector and the visualizations and colour quality mainly. The projector is available at around $1200, which is a value for money investment.

Price: $1200
