Review: OnePlus 3

The line-up of OnePlus phones have improved in build quality with every new addition. The first flagship killer came with a full plastic body whereas the second one featured a plastic one with metal edges. The OnePlus 3 has improved the design further as it features a full metal body furnished with glass.

The screen size is 5.5-inches. However, the big screen size is super comfortable in hands. With the thickness of 4.33mm, the OnePlus 3 is incredibly easy to handle. The latest flagship killer definitely borrows some design elements from the previous phones in this line-up.

However, the more modern approach makes the look of the phone quite refreshing. The position of the fingerprint sensor is just right and its accuracy as well as speed are highly impressive. The 5.5-inch display is a Super AMOLED one. The brand calls its version of the AMOLED screen an Optic AMOLED display. The display quality is pretty close to that of the Samsung Galaxy S7. However, the S7’s screen is the supreme one.

The OnePlus 3 features a customized version of Android Marshmallow and it calls it the Oxygen OS. One of the best things about the OnePlus phones is that they feature a really customizable and user friendly version of Android. For example, the ‘Shelf’ feature available in the oxygen OS makes it really convenient to view recently opened apps as it acts as a secondary home screen.

The hardware used in this device is the one expected out of a flagship killer. The Snapdragon 820 chip is powerful enough to run even the most demanding games and applications. 6 Gigabytes of RAM makes multi-tasking absolutely amazing. The Adreno 520 GPU is capable of handling all graphic intense operations a smartphone can do.

The internal storage amounts to 65GB which is more than enough for most users. The OnePlus features pretty much every connectivity option. The list includes NFC, GPS-GLONASS, NFC, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and a USB 2.0 connector. The capability of the USB 2.0 connector to double up as a reverse C-type connector further increases the phone’s connectivity. The usual sensors are also available in this device.

The 3000mAh battery can last for a whole day if the usage is not very high. Considering the price of this latest flagship killer, the performance is flawless. The only competition the OnePlus 3 has is from phones almost twice its cost.

The rear Sony IMX298 sensor is a 16 megapixel shooter with an aperture size of f/2.0. The images captured by the rear camera are crisp and high in detail. The camera is also capable of QHD video recording at a frame rate of 30 fps. When it comes to full HD recording, the frame rate gets 120 fps. The 8-megapixel front camera is good for selfies and video calling. Full HD videos can be captured by the front facing camera of the OnePlus 3.

OnePlus phones have always offered something extraordinary. The tagline ‘flagship killer’ completely suits the OnePlus 3 as it rivals smartphones that come from a much higher price range. Nothing can go wrong if you buy this phone!
