Taiwan Excellence and Computex d&i Awards Showcased at CES 2017

This year, CES is expecting to attract 3,800 exhibitors and over 160,000 visitors, which includes 188 Taiwanese exhibitors, accounting for 5% of the total exhibitors. This edition of CES focuses on unmanned vehicles, AI and startups. Key exhibitors include Bosch, Intel, LG, Microsoft, NVIDIA, NXP, Panasonic, Qualcomm, Samsung, Sony, Toyota, Huawei, ZTE, Hisense, Haier, and so on.

The Executive Vice President of Taiwan External Trade and Development Council (TAITRA), Walter Yeh, took advantage of this global technology event, by holding a press conference on January 4 for “Innovations on Taiwan ICT Industry”, which successfully promoted COMPUTEX and Taiwan Excellence.

In addition, TAITRA integrated internal resources, setting up three themed pavilions: Computex d&i Awards Display Pavilion, Taiwan Excellence Pavilion, and Taiwan Pavilion, showcasing Taiwan’s outstanding ICT innovations and strengths across CES. The press conference attracted close to 100 media representatives from 11 countries. For the first time, the press conference was synchronized in multimedia platform and broadcasted live.

During the press conference, Yeh indicated that the ICT industry of Taiwan includes a complete supply chain, from upstream to downstream, excellent research and development capabilities and perfect startup ecosystems. In the development of global ICT industry, Taiwan has always played an important role throughout the history. “Computex, organized by TAITRA, is the best platform to fully present Taiwan’s competitiveness in the global ICT industry,” said TAITRA in a statement.

Computex 2016 started a transformation, repositioning itself with: “Building Global Technology Ecosystem”. A successful transition attracted 1,602 exhibitors, using more than 5,000 booths and received more than 40,000 international buyers from 178 countries, a 4.7% growth from 2015. And in response to IoT applications and the startup trend, Computex 2016 launched “SmarTEX” and “InnoVEX” exhibiting areas with great show results for both exhibitors and visitors.

“Computex 2017 will continue on this success and focus on AI & robotics, innovations and startups, IoT applications, business solutions, and gaming & VR. Exhibiting companies include Intel, Microsoft, and Supermicro from the USA. Socionext from Japan, ABB from Switzerland , ARM from UK, Micronics from South Korea, Hisense from China and Acer, Asus, Adata, ASRock, BenQ, Clevo, Cooler Master, Gigabyte, G. Skill, ECS, In win, MSI, Thermaltake, MediaTek, Delta, Realtek Semiconductor and more. In addition to product showcase, Computex 2017 will also open with multiple activities, including international press conferences, opening ceremony, forums and seminars, startup pitches and demos, Computex d&i Awards, B-to-B procurement meetings and more,” said TAITRA.
