Ever wanted a perfect headset for your PC gaming sessions? You now have one more excellent option to consider. Creative recently launched a new range of gaming headsets within its Sound BlasterX family. The company sent the new Sound BlasterX H5 gaming headset over to Review Central Labs for a test drive.
We were blown away by the sheer audio quality this thing can produce. Pair it up with the Sound BlasterX G1 external sound card, and you have got a sweet audio setup. Upon opening up the packaging, you will see that the H5 sports brilliant design and build quality that Creative is known for.
The Sound BlasterX H5 sports an aluminium headband that’s used to suspend the earcups between two connection points. It’s a sleek, modern design that’s relatively bulk-free for an over-ear gaming headset. The build quality is excellent, as mentioned earlier. The headset is both sturdy and light and the stitching on the material is without fault.
Inside the package, along with the H5, you get a 4-pole cable with 3.5mm jacks on both sides, a 4-pole cable with in-line remote and 3.5mm jacks on both sides, a microphone, a windbreak, and the quick start guide.
The in-line remote features microphone mute, volume dial as well as a phone answer button for when in use with a mobile device, which is great. The cable itself is high quality braiding and is very flexible.
We plugged the H5 into an Apple MacBook Pro and it sounded excellent. The sound from the 50mm drivers is top-notch. The Sound BlasterX H5 might not be the loudest headset out there but it’s plenty loud enough in our opinion, especially given how well it attenuates external sounds, and it also doesn’t distort a maximum volume like so many cheaper models.
It handled music and movies quite well and the bass was not overpowering. During our PC gaming sessions, we were blown away by the audio quality. The H5 surely hits the sweet spot for anyone looking for a good analogue headset with great sound quality.
