Huawei has officially unveiled its Matebook X laptop with a new design that is slimmer and lighter than the previous Matebook X Pro. The new Matebook X only weighs 1kg and is only 13.6mm thick. On the contrary, the Matebook X Pro weighs 1.33kg.
The Huawei Matebook X features a 13-inch display with an aspect ratio of 3:2 (similar to the ones found in Microsoft Surface products) and has a screen resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels. The previous Matebook X Pro comes with a slightly larger 13.9-inch display. Huawei claims that the screen on the Matebook X provides 100% sRGB coverage and the screen has a maximum brightness of 400 nits. The touchscreen display also features a 90% screen-to-body ratio so users will be able to see more content. By the looks of it, the laptop has very thin bezels as compared to the one on the Microsoft Surface laptop.
The Matebook X is powered by the optional Intel i5-10210U or the Intel i5-10510U processor, coupled with either 8GB or 16GB LPDDR3 RAM. The new laptops also feature 512GB NVMe SSD for blazing performance. The laptop also comes with two USB-C ports that can also be used for charging the device. Huawei has improved on the touchpad performance and seems to compete with Apple’s Force Touch technology. The new trackpad is capable of recognizing different pressure levels, along with its haptic feedback that gives the experience of pressing an actual button.
The Huawei Matebook X houses a 42Wh battery under its hood. Since the bezels are so thin, there is ideally no place to keep the camera. Huawei had introduced the concept of a hidden camera on the Matebook X Pro, where a keyboard button opens up as a pop-up camera. The same applies to the new Matebook X. Other features include four speakers, two mics, support for 802.11ax connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The Huawei Matebook X comes in Emerald Green, Space Gray, Mystic Silver, and a Rose Gold colour. There isn’t any word yet on when the new laptop will be available in the UAE.
