Huawei unveils the nova 8 SE, features a 64MP shooter, 66W fast charge and 5G connectivity

Huawei has officially announced yet another mid-range smartphone called the nova 8 SE, featuring high-megapixel quad cameras, fast battery charging, and high-speed 5G connectivity.

The new smartphone comes with a 6.3-inch OLED display for the best colors and is rated with Full HD+ (1080 x 2400) as its screen resolution and 20:9 as its screen aspect ratio. As a part of the design, the display also features a waterdrop notch that houses a 16MP selfie camera. The OLED display also brings support for HDR10 and also has a fingerprint scanner under the glass for biometric authentication. The Huawei nova 8 SE is 7.46mm thick and has a weight of 178g. The design of the nova 8 SE has a striking resemblance to the Apple iPhone 12. Apple’s latest smartphone doesn’t have a waterdrop notch but it’s the frame of the nova 8 SE that reminds of the iPhone 12. Even the rear-facing camera island is so similar to the Apple iPhone 12, except for the fact that Huawei’s new device has four camera sensors.

The nova 8 SE features a 64MP shooter as its main camera, along with an 8MP sensor for ultrawide shots, one 2MP snapper for macro shots, and one depth-sensing camera with a 2MP sensor. The 64MP shooter has an aperture of F1.9. That said, the nova 8 SE comes in two different versions, the standard and High Edition. The standard model is powered by the Dimensity 720 processor while the premium model packs the Dimensity 800U processor. Both the chipsets feature an octa-core configuration, except for the fact that the 800U features faster CPU core speeds. The smartphone does not have expandable storage but the internal memory is 128GB. The smartphone has 8GB of RAM under its hood and the device runs on Android 10 OS with EMUI 10.1 skin sans the Google services.

The nova 8 SE houses a 3800 mAh battery, and while the capacity isn’t large as today’s smartphones, the battery brings support for 66W fast charge capability. With just 15 minutes of charge, the smartphone can achieve 60% battery capacity. The nova 8 SE takes over half an hour to achieve a full charge. The smartphone also has a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.1, Dual SIM, and more. The biggest key is the 5G connectivity for both the variants, except for the fact that the premium model can connect to 5G speeds with both the SIM cards and the standard model with just the primary SIM.

There isn’t any word yet on the local availability but the Huawei nova 8 SE comes in four colors, including the Black, Deep Blue, Blue, and Silver colors. The Huawei nova 8 SE standard model is priced at 390 dollars (Approx.1500 AED) and the High Edition for 410 dollars (Approx.1600 AED).
