Huawei announces the nova 8 and nova 8 Pro, features Kirin 985 SoC and 64MP cameras

Huawei has officially introduced two new smartphones called the nova 8 and the nova 8 Pro, featuring high-refresh screens, high-megapixel cameras, 5G connectivity, and the latest SoC chips.

The nova 8 comes with a large 6.57-inch OLED display with FHD+ as its screen resolution. Huawei mentions that the display on the nova 8 features a 90Hz refresh rate. There is a punch-hole camera on the front that packs a 32MP selfie snapper. The display also has a fingerprint scanner integrated within, and there is a speaker grill cutout on the top frame.

The main camera island on the rear side packs a 64MP shooter as its main sensor, along with an 8MP snapper for ultra-wide shots and two 2MP sensors that serves for macro photography and depth sensing. The nova 8 is chipped with the Kirin 985 SoC and is paired with 8GB RAM and a choice of 128GB or 256GB storage. The device runs on Android 10 with EMUI and the Huawei HMS system. The smartphone houses a rather small 3800 mAh battery. However, it does bring support for 66W fast charging capability.

On the other hand, the nova 8 Pro holds a larger 6.72-inch OLED display with the same FHD+ screen resolution. However, the pro model has a faster refresh rate, maxing out up to 120Hz. The display also features a curved design. The screen brings support for 10-bit color output that helps to deliver deeper colors. The device has two front-facing cameras mounted on a pill-shaped cutout. One is a 16MP that acts as the primary selfie snapper, and the other is a 32MP camera for ultra-wide selfies. And as with the nova 8, the pro model also packs a fingerprint scanner beneath the display.

The rear camera module on the nova 8 Pro is all the same as the base nova 8. And the same goes for the chipset and the Android OS. However, the pro model packs a larger 4000 mAh battery, also with 66W fast charge capability. Both smartphones have support for 5G connectivity.

The Huawei nova 8  and the Pro model will come in green, purple, black, and silver colors. The 128GB nova 8 models are priced at CNY 3,299 (Approx. 1900 AED), and the 256GB for CNY 3,699 (Approx. 2100 AED). The 128GB nova 8 Pro will cost CNY 3,999 (Approx. 2300 AED), and the 256GB for CNY 4,399 (Approx. 2500 AED). There is no news yet on the availability of the Huawei nova 8 and nova 8 Pro in the UAE.
