LG OLED 4K TV powered with AI usher into new era of home entertainment

With perfect blacks, crisp visuals and ultra-fast response times, OLED TVs have become a top choice for gamers and home cinema enthusiasts alike. Yet, with such a variety of options in the marketplace, it can often be difficult for everyday consumers to distinguish between technological offerings.

To help consumers understand more about OLED technology, LG shares insights into the key advantages and how its latest TVs are once again disrupting home entertainment category.

What makes OLED unique?
OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode. This means that it creates its own light source – different to LED TVs, which use a backlight to create a picture by illuminating pixels in front.

With OLED, there is no backlight. Each individual pixel can light itself. The main benefit is improved contrast. OLED achieves true shades of black by switching off pixels completely in dark areas of the screen. Individual pixels display the correct amount of light – without a backlight having the opportunity to bleed through and distort the image. This makes visuals on-screen more life-like.

How OLED and 4K work together
OLED and 4K are two different technologies that work hand-in-hand. 4K refers to the screen resolution and an increase in number of pixels, while OLED is a type of screen which vastly improves color and contrast of those pixels. When put into perspective, 4K technology packs four times more pixels on screen than Full HD TVs. 4K TVs remain the most widespread and in demand choice of TVs available for consumers to purchase today.

The color accuracy benefits of OLED technology
Global testing agency Intertek has confirmed that LG OLED displays have 100% color fidelity. This means that the colors viewers see on the screen closely match the colors of the original image and is as the creator intended. LG OLED TVs achieve full Color Volume thanks to the excellent color reproduction technology of LG TVs. With 100% Color Volume, LG OLED can express 100% of the DCI-P3 spectrum across a 3D color space that covers the TV’s full luminance range. This means that colors remain vivid and lifelike with full saturation no matter how bright or dark the display.

Personalizing every experience with AI
At the core of each TV within LG’s 2021 OLED lineup is the α (Alpha) 9 Gen 4 AI Processor, a groundbreaking chip that uses deep-learning algorithms to analyze and optimize content. AI Brightness Control uses a light sensor to measure the surrounding ambient light, then the processor finely adjusts tone mapping for optimal screen brightness.

LG’s AI Sound Pro technology learns from more than 17 million sound data points and identifies voices, effects and frequencies to optimize sound according to the audio genre. To create a truly optimized listening experience, users can even deploy AI Acoustic Tuning – where the Magic Remote detects the size of the room, the position of the TV and where the person is sitting to process and balance sound for the environment.

The latest LG televisions also come with Natural Language Processing (NLP), making it possible for them to understand voice-activated commands and questions in various languages, including English, Arabic, French, Spanish and Russian. The TVs understand context and can understand standard Arabic dialect, as well as Emirati, Saudi Arabian and Egyptian variations – for a lifelike experience.

Special Pricing and Availability
LG’s latest OLED TVs, including the new C1 model, come in sizes ranging from 48 up to 83-inches. The 83-inch LG OLED C1 TV has a recommended retail price of 29,999 AED. As part of a special promotion, those purchasing from Sharaf DG, Jumbo Electronics, Carrefour, Lulu Hypermarket and Emax stores will also receive a free 520W LG Sound Bar (model SN9Y), worth 3,499 AED – while stocks last.
