Smashi TV launches live streaming app

Augustus Media announces the launch of business, tech and culture OTT streaming service, Smashi TV app on Android and tvOS devices.

The application allows a registered user to sign in through account details and directly tune into Smashi. Additionally, with the use of a QR code strategy, Smashi users have the ability to login as per their subscription plan within seconds. If the user is neither registered nor subscribed, each user is directed to the Apple or Play store regardless of their mobile device.

Smashi is primarily SVOD (Subscription Video On Demand) streaming service that consists of two subscription plans; yearly and monthly. With subscription, users have access to safe Smashi content, access to download videos, watch videos on demand (SVOD) and full shows due to a 24 hour live stream across multiple devices and a 7-day free trial. Smashi is also a AVOD (Advertising Video On Demand) free streaming service, with over 900 hours of free content available.

Smashi is a live streaming service from the heart of the Arab world, covering the most innovative products, services and technologies changing our lives. Bringing to life the latest regional and international news, and the impact it has on the MENA region. Smashi hosts a variety of shows across several platforms each day of the week, along with guest interviews. Shows include Mornings With Smashi, Dubai Works and the most sensational, Meen Mkassir Social Media. Smashi is a mindset; it’s for the driven, the dreamers and the doers.

“We really believed in the continued transformation of traditional television in a streaming era. The investment in technology is testament of the role we plan for Smashi to play as the region transitions from a channel flicking viewer behaviour, to a app flicking one. We have plans to launch Smashi on many more OEM’s and MNO’s throughout 2022” said Richard Fitzgerald, CEO, Augustus Media.

According to a new report from Digital TV Research on SVOD and OTT services stated “OTT revenues are set to overtake pay TV in the MENA region over the coming years.” Additionally, with reference to new figures by Dataxix, “OTT revenues are set to overtake pay TV in the MENA region over the coming years.”

Smashi has also chosen Veset Nimbus as it’s live automation playout service in the cloud, using the technology to run the 24 hour linear streaming service on AWS. With this access, all past Smashi videos and shows are playlisted and available for all subscribers.
