ASUS introduces the ROG Thor 1600W Titanium power supply with 80 Plus Titanium certification

ASUS has officially introduced its latest power supply unit called the ROG Thor 1600W Titanium as a part of the ROG Thor series line-up. The PSU also carries the 80 Plus Platinum certification for 90% efficiency during 100% load.

The new PSU is the highest wattage ASUS has launched as a part of the ROG Thor series. The new unit also features an identical design to the previous ROG Thor II. The design includes a combination of black and silver color, along with an OLED screen located on the side. However, despite having a high capacity wattage, the new PSU does not come with native PCIe Gen 5 connector support. Thus leading to the fact that RTX 3090 Ti owners will end up buying adaptors.

And with NVIDIA preparing to release the RTX 40 series GPUs in the near future, gamers will have to combine up to four 8-pin connectors for a 16-pin connection with 600W of power. That said, ASUS does mention on the product page that the PSU does support PCIe Gen5 600W connectors. However, this is only possible if there is a native implementation of Gen5 with Sense 1/2 data pins.

We aren’t sure if ASUS might change the specifications of the device, or if they plan to release the PSU and a 16-pin connector with an adaptor. There is no word on the official pricing and details of the new ASUS ROG Thor 1600W Titanium for the UAE market.
