Logitech is popular for its affordable and wireless computer accessories, which include keyboards, mice, and more. The company recently released its K950 Signature Slim keyboard, and we got a chance to try out the new device. Here are our thoughts about the new keyboard.
Design
The new Logitech K950 features a full-size keyboard layout, which is very ideal for office environments or for those who prefer the number keys too. The styling of the keyboard is similar to the Logitech keyboard released in the past. The dimensions of the K950 are 433.8 mm x 134.8 mm x 23.1 mm, and the keyboard weighs 685g with a battery. There is only one grey color option for the Logitech K950 Signature Slim.
Logitech mentions that the keyboard is made of 62% graphite plastics post-consumer recycled material and 48% off-white plastics post-consumer recycled material. There is a mesh-like design on the top side of the keyboard. The LED on the top-right portion is for the battery status, which is a very neat feature to have. The LED shows green when the battery life is good and red when it’s running low on power. While the keyboard features a full-size layout, there are three additional keys dedicated to switching between connected devices seamlessly, and it has its own LED indicators. This is also a very handy feature to use when you have multiple devices connected to the keyboard.
Logitech also imprinted the Option (Mac)/Start (Windows), and CMD (Mac)/Alt (Windows) signs on the keyboard, which should be convenient for both PC and Windows users to recognize the keys. The review sample that we received also comes with the Arabic letters for the Arabic-speaking crowd.
Logitech mentions that the typing experience of the K950 Signature Slim is similar to the ones used on laptops. The keys also feature a quiet typing experience, which should be great for office environments, and the keycaps feature a square design. That said, I was disappointed that the keyboard does not come with a backlit system, which is a deal-breaker for some users.
There is also an On/Off switch on the upper side of the keyboard. On the bottom panel, you have the kickstands (8 degree typing angle) and the battery compartment. The battery compartment also has a slot to house the wireless receiver.
The kickstands feature a one-step elevation design for those who want to enhance their typing experience. As for the packaging, you get the keyboard, the USB Bolt wireless receiver, and two AAA batteries.
Features
The Logitech K950 Signature Slim uses the low-power Bluetooth 5.1 for its wireless connectivity, and the wireless range with with Logi Bolt USB receiver is about 10 meters. Do keep in mind that the dongle uses a USB-A connector, and not USB-C. Logitech also mentions that the keyboard’s battery performance with AAA batteries can last up to 36 months of use.
For various customizations, both macOS and Windows users can download the Logi Options+ application. The keyboard is also compatible with Linux, ChromeOS, iPad OS 14+, iOS 14+, and Android 9.0+ devices. Users will also be able to change profiles that balance between work and personal life shortcuts. The device can also be seamlessly paired with the Logitech Signature M650 mouse, featuring that SmartWheel that allows you to easily scroll through documents and webpages.
Verdict
For those looking for a slim, full-sized wireless keyboard, we recommend the new Logitech K950 Signature Slim. The device features wireless connectivity via the power-efficient Bluetooth 5.1, and the battery life can last for up to 36 months with AAA batteries. The device can be connected to three wireless devices, and users will be able to switch between the connected clients easily. The typing experience of the keyboard is similar to laptops. The keyboard is compatible with multiple platforms, including macOS, Windows, and ChromeOS.
The K950 Signature Slim is also suitable for a quiet typing experience. While the keyboard lacks a proper backlit system, there is a dedicated LED to indicate the health of the battery. The keyboard weighs only 685g and is suitable for both office and personal use. You can also use the Logi Options+ application to customize different aspects of the keyboard, and users will also be able to pair the keyboard with the Logitech Signature M650 mouse for a better experience.
