User Rating: 8.8

Sandisk’s Extreme series SD cards are known for their high-performance speeds, meant for professional cameras. The company recently refreshed their SD card lineup, featuring the new branding. We take a look at the Sandisk 256GB Extreme Pro SDXC V30 card, and here are our thoughts about it.

While there are plenty of high-speed professional cameras in the market, the demand for high-speed SD memory cards has risen. The new Sandisk Extreme Pro SDXC V30 card comes in a range of storage options that include 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB options, and we got the 256GB unit for review (SDSDXXJ-256G-GSCIN). The memory card now also comes with Sandisk’s new logo on the front-facing sticker while retaining the same black-color casing.

The card features the UHS-I interface, which allows for high-speed data transfers. Sandisk mentions that the 256GB variant comes with a read speed that reaches 250 MB/s, while the write speed can reach up to 170 MB/s. The memory card is designed to record 4K UHD videos and slow-motion videos to keep up with the camera’s shooting performance. Sandisk also uses their in-house NAND flash memory that is designed for extreme durability and long-term reliability. Additionally, the memory card is capable of operating in extreme conditions. It features temperature-proof, waterproof, humidity-proof, drop-proof, shock-proof, magnet-proof, X-ray-proof and wear-out proof capabilities.

We tried the memory card on our Sony A7C full-frame camera and the Sony A6600 APS-C camera, and the memory card performed as expected. Users will also be able to use the Sandisk desktop application to organize, back up, and transfer images and videos. The memory card also comes with a limited lifetime warranty, depending on the regions.
