Samsung has been introducing new models of Galaxy smartphones every quarter to keep the curiosity of the consumer alive. However, baring a few flagship models, we have not found significant differences in the handsets. Samsung Galaxy A5 is another such launch from Samsung’s kitty and we are here to tell you whether it has surprises in store for us or comes out to be just another Samsung Galaxy. A5 is another phone in affordable galaxy range and is certainly an improved version of Galaxy A3, its predecessor.
Samsung has been long criticized for plastic design and the mobile giant is probably on a course correction mode. A5 is decently designed with an all metal unibody approach and does away from the design stigma attached to it. The metal chassis in the handset does not allow the battery to be removed. However, the 2300mAh battery will perform decently considering that the phone is low on specs.
The phone is great to hold in the hands as it is very sleek. Although the back panel cannot be removed, the memory can be expanded to 64 GB. Although, big in size, its sleek designing makes the phone easy to use with single hand as well. The volume rocker keys and power button are on different sides of the bezel, so the question of the accidental press of the wrong key does not arise. The phone is indeed a design triumph.
Samsung A5 is equipped with a Super Amoled display with a resolution of 720×1280. The phone comes with 5 inch screen which is bright and displays better contrast, but falters when viewed in bright sunlight. The resolution is on the lower side which does not really match with the high end looks of the phone. The screen looks slightly soft and is devoid of the sharpness that would be in line with the external design of the phone. You may find the colours slightly over-saturated and also the pixel structures while playing games.
Samsung Galaxy A5 comes fitted with Snapdragon 410 chipset, which is slightly on the lower side. 2 GB RAM will let you multitask without much lag. The 13 MP rear camera some amazing pictures but there are phones priced similarly which have as high as 20 MP camera Powered with 2300mAh battery, the phone gave an unexpected backup. Normal usage of phone with Wi-Fi and 4G Data left on and brightness set to full, the battery could run for 1 and a half day without charging. In normal conditions, the backup could be 2 days, which is great for smartphones.
Those who did not prefer Samsung Galaxy phones only due to the design issues can now go for it. As for Samsung Galaxy A5, lower specification can be a deterrent for little people as better specifications are available in phones of other brands at lower prices. If you are looking for a phone just looks the business but is not essentially a high end device, you can go for the phone, otherwise look for cheaper alternatives with better specs.
