Review: BlackBerry Priv

The BlackBerry Priv is a smartphone from BlackBerry that runs Android as the operating system. The onboard version of Android is 5.1.1. The phone comes with an internal memory of 32 GB and there is external slot for memory chip which is extendable.

Blackberry is known as the business phone of the generation as it supports the applications which are needed for business purpose. The phone has a keyboard which is to be used physically that is it has QWERTY keyboard and the whole world of Google Play store is at your service with this phone as it uses android.

The phone has a camera that offers a resolution of 18 MP and the phone comes with 3GB of RAM, which is huge to make the phone really flexible and can be used without any slowing down. The battery of the phone is also of high capacity that is 3410 mAH and is of Li-Ion.

The screen offers a resolution of 1440-by-2560 pixels and the size of the screen is 5.4-inch. The network types supported by the phone are GSM, LTE and HSPA. The phone weighs around 192 grams, which makes it quite light.

There is Nano-SIM slot available in the phone. The display is AMOLED type with the capacitive touch screen and there are 16M colours for the display available. The phone has multi touch facility that is you can use all your fingers at the same time and can work on the phone.

For the protection of the screen from any damage there is ultra strong Gorilla Glass 4 provided with the phone. The screen has curves on the edges to make it look classier. The CPU is made of dual core processor of 1.8 GHz cortex-A57 and the quad-core processor of 1.44 GHz cortex A-53 and the GPU is Ardeno 418.

The internal storage is extendable up to 200GB, which is quite rare in the smartphones of this range. The secondary camera comes with 2 MP capability, and there are features associated with the camera are like touch focus, geo tagging, and so on.

The sound quality is really up to the mark and there is WAV ringtones, vibration mode and MP3 facilities. The loudspeaker is there with great sound effects and there is also a provision for the 3.5mm jack.

The phone comes with an altimeter, ToF proximity, gyro, compass and accelerometer. The phone supports SMS, email, push mails, MMS, BBM and IM. The supported browser is HTML5 and there is no Java support in this phone.

The battery gets charged up very quickly, though there is quick loss of the charge, too. The voice quality is good due to the cancellation of the active noise during the call. The standby time of the battery is 420 hours and the talk time is 24 hours when on 3G.

The BlackBerry Priv is good for the people who love Android and the apps it offers, along with the playstore ecosystem, but would also want business features such as BlackBerry’s dependable security features and its awesome physical keyboard.
