TP-Link Announces new Neffos Smartphones at CES 2017

Neffos, a brand established by TP-Link, has exhibited for the first time at CES 2017. The company showed off the X1 and the X1 Max at the event. The recently launched Neffos X1 and X1 Max combine premium design and careful craftsmanship with uncompromised performance and are in line with the brand’s mission. “They offer the best technology available to those who want to build connections and stay connected wherever they are,” said the company in a statement.

Both the phones are already available in Cloudy Gray and Sunrise Gold variants. Sleek and built using high-quality materials, the metal unibody of the Neffos X1 and X1 Max have been refined to give customers the best user experience.

The symmetrical design makes for a sensible layout for the mic pinhole, camera, and fingerprint sensor, while also allowing the latter to be located where one’s index finger naturally falls on the device. The sensor unlocks the phone in a mere 0.2 seconds.

The curves on the back, meanwhile, strike the perfect balance between style and function and allow for a better grip and a more ergonomic fit in the hand. A high screen-to-body ratio of 76 percent is achieved by keeping the bezels along the sides thin and reducing the length of the handset.

The narrow metal frame has been constructed using advanced stamping techniques and measures 7.85mm thick, although its visual thickness is just 2.75mm, one of the narrowest in the industry. The IPS display is gorgeous at 5-inches for the X1 and 5.5 inches for the X1 Max.

A sheet of 2.5D curved-edge glass protects the panel from bumps and knocks and makes swiping through screens and navigating the interface feel natural. The Neffos X1 and X1 Max are indeed perfect for playing graphics-rich games and watching TV shows and movies on the go.

The Neffos X1 and X1 Max are equipped with a rear camera backed by a 13-megapixel Sony IMX258 sensor with dual-tone flash, 5-element lens, backside illumination, and fast phase-detection auto-focus of just 0.2 seconds.

The forward-facing camera is 5 megapixels and sports a wide-angle lens. Real-time Beautify mode is built into the camera software so that users are just one tap away from taking the perfect selfie. Inside, the Neffos X1 and X1 Max are powered by an octa-core chip from MediaTek, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory with expandable storage of up to 128GB.

Dual-band WiFi is included, alongside support for voice over LTE or VoLTE — should the service provider support it as well — and multiple LTE frequencies for fast mobile internet where available. The phones run a custom Android 6.0 Marshmallow build.
