HTC is going strong even though Google acquired its Pixel team almost a month ago. The company has now sent out invites to the Taiwanese media about a launch event to announces its next flagship in Taipei. Rumours are rife that the company will be announcing the U11 Plus at the event.
The invite, as seen below, has all the information about the actual event to take place – the date, time, venue and the very noticeable U. This signals the announcement of a new U-series device.
The rumour-mills suggest that it could very well be the HTC U11 Plus. It is a new flagship with a 5.99-inch 18:9 display offering Quad HD+ resolution (1440-by-2880 pixels). The new phone is also rumoured to run Snapdragon’s 835 chipset, with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB and/or 128GB of built-in storage.
There will likely be a 12MP optically stabilised main camera with bright f/1.7 optics. The device could also comes with UltraSpeed autofocus and an 8MP selfie snapper around the front. There’s no word if HTC’s BoomSound speakers will flank the 18:9 screen.
