Disney theme park coming to Abu Dhabi

The arrival of a Disney theme park in Abu Dhabi marks a monumental moment in the region’s entertainment landscape. Miral and The Walt Disney Company officially announced the Middle East and Africa’s first-ever Disney theme park resort destination with an unforgettable celebration on Yas Island.

The grand announcement unfolded at Yas Links with a breathtaking 9,000-drone show—the largest ever in the region—paired with a dazzling fireworks display. The event featured legendary pianist Lang Lang, iconic Emirati singer Rashed Alnuaimi, West End star Kerry Ellis, and classical vocalist Sonya Balsara.

The celebration drew global attention, attracting celebrities such as Tyrese Gibson, Naomi Campbell, Nancy Ajram, Chiara Ferragni, and Ed Westwick. Dignitaries, industry leaders, and global media were present to witness what is poised to be a transformative moment in Disney’s global legacy.

Set against the stunning Yas Island waterfront, the sky spectacle symbolized the limitless imagination both Disney and Miral represent. This Abu Dhabi destination will become Disney’s seventh theme park resort worldwide—and its first in the Middle East—connecting travelers from Africa, Asia, Europe, India, and beyond.

Landmarks across the UAE joined in the celebration. The Burj Khalifa and Aldar HQ lit up with Disney-themed visuals, while buildings throughout Abu Dhabi glowed in blue, marking the beginning of a bold new chapter in regional tourism.

The upcoming Disney resort in Abu Dhabi will fuse Disney’s iconic storytelling with the emirate’s vibrant culture, stunning coastline, and cutting-edge architecture. Miral will lead development, while Disney’s Imagineers will oversee the design and operational elements to ensure a world-class experience.

This announcement is more than a theme park reveal—it reinforces Yas Island’s emergence as a global hub for entertainment and leisure.
