Mercedes‑AMG GT 4‑Door Coupé sets new EV benchmark

The new Mercedes‑AMG GT 4‑Door Coupé marks a major leap forward in high‑performance electric mobility, redefining what an all‑electric sports car can deliver. Built on the high‑performance AMG.EA architecture, the four‑door model introduces a series of world‑first technologies that push acceleration, endurance, and driving dynamics into an entirely new category. According to Mercedes‑AMG, the vehicle “catapults performance and driving pleasure to a new level,” thanks to a revolutionary drive concept and a suite of engineering breakthroughs.

At the heart of the new model is a newly developed electric powertrain featuring three axial‑flux motors, used for the first time in a series‑production EV. Two motors sit on the rear axle and one on the front, delivering a system output of up to 860 kW (1,169 hp). This configuration enables extraordinary repeatable performance, supported by a high‑performance battery designed for rapid energy absorption and sustained power delivery. Mercedes‑AMG demonstrated the capability of this technology during the record‑setting CONCEPT AMG GT XX endurance run, which covered more than 40,000 kilometers in just over eight days and shattered 25 long‑distance records .

Customers will be able to choose between two variants at launch: the Mercedes‑AMG GT 63 4‑Door Coupé and the GT 55 4‑Door Coupé, with pricing aligned to previous comparable models. Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes‑Benz Group AG, emphasized the significance of the model, noting that it “pushes performance to new limits and delivers the emotion our fans expect – now in the electric era” .

Performance figures underscore the car’s engineering ambition. The GT 4‑Door Coupé accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.1 seconds, and from 0 to 200 km/h in 6.4 seconds, with a top speed of 300 km/h when equipped with the optional Driver’s Package. Charging performance is equally impressive: with a 600 kW charging capacity, the vehicle can recover more than 460 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes, and charge from 10 to 80 percent in only 11 minutes .

Beyond raw numbers, the model introduces a new dimension of emotional engagement. In AMGFORCE S+ mode, the vehicle simulates a highly authentic V8 sound experience, complete with haptic feedback and traction interruption during simulated gear changes. The central driver display adopts a classic AMG tube‑style design to reinforce the sensation of driving a high‑performance combustion sports car, despite the vehicle being fully electric .

Driving dynamics are further enhanced by the AMG RACE ENGINEER, a system that allows drivers to fine‑tune response, traction, and cornering behavior with professional‑level precision. Active aerodynamics, including two AEROKINETICS venturi flow plates and an active rear diffuser, adapt instantly to driving conditions to maximize stability and efficiency .

The vehicle’s high‑voltage battery is another breakthrough, drawing on expertise from Formula 1 and the Mercedes‑AMG ONE hypercar. Its cylindrical cells, direct cooling system, and advanced NCMA‑silicon chemistry deliver exceptional energy density and thermal stability, enabling both high output and repeated peak performance under extreme load .

With its combination of revolutionary motor technology, advanced battery engineering, and signature AMG driving emotion, the Mercedes‑AMG GT 4‑Door Coupé sets a new standard for electric performance vehicles — and signals the beginning of a bold new era for the AMG brand.
