Samsung has introduced its most expansive foldable lineup yet with the launch of the new Galaxy Z series, designed to bring foldables to a wider audience. The series debuts the Galaxy Z Fold8, a fresh form factor built around the way people “explore, discover and immerse
themselves in their favorite content,” and expands the portfolio with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8, each engineered for distinct user needs. Samsung positions this generation as its most complete foldable offering, backed by seven generations of innovation and deeper integration of Galaxy AI.
Across the lineup, Galaxy AI has been optimized for each form factor, making insights more actionable and interactions more seamless. Larger screens on Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra enhance multitasking, while Flip8’s AI‑native FlexWindow keeps essential information and shortcuts accessible at a glance. Samsung also highlights partner AI experiences such as Gemini Intelligence, which help users complete tasks “in fewer steps — with transparency, privacy and user control built in.”
TM Roh, President and Head of the Device eXperience Division, said the new series advances Samsung’s premium mobile vision: “By setting a new standard for foldables, we are once again advancing the premium mobile experience and opening the next era of intelligence to more people.”
The Galaxy Z Fold8 is designed for everyday immersion, shifting naturally between quick interactions on the cover screen and deeper engagement on the main display. Its display ratios adapt to how people consume content throughout the day. When folded, the 10:16 cover screen offers a familiar interface for messaging, browsing and short‑form video. When unfolded, the 4:3 main display becomes a larger canvas suited for gaming and film, and when rotated, the ratio becomes ideal for reading long‑form content. Despite its lightweight 201 g design, the Fold8 integrates the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform and a larger 4,800 mAh battery for smooth, long‑lasting performance.
Samsung’s display engineering underpins the Fold8’s refined experience. The new Flex Titanium structure uses a titanium‑alloy film and enhanced titanium plate to strengthen display support, absorb pressure and reduce crease visibility over time. This structure also improves hinge mechanics for smoother unfolding. With up to 3,000 nits of brightness, Vision Booster and a low‑reflection finish, the main screen remains vivid even outdoors.
The Fold8’s camera system is designed for versatility. Dual 50 MP cameras deliver high‑resolution detail across wide and ultra‑wide perspectives. Dual Recording allows users to capture both sides of a moment while previewing themselves on the cover screen. My FanCam automatically tracks a selected subject and reframes footage into preferred aspect ratios, turning dynamic scenes into social‑ready videos with less manual editing.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra elevates the foldable experience to Galaxy’s Ultra standard. Its expansive 8‑inch main display creates a productive workspace for multitasking, while its advanced camera system supports professional‑grade creativity. The 200 MP main camera captures rich, detailed photos and now includes HDR capability in 200 MP mode. A new 50 MP ultra‑wide camera enhances landscapes, interiors and macro shots, while improved Nightography brightens low‑light photos and videos. For creators, 8K video recording through the new APV codec and Cine LUT provide cinematic control directly on the device.
Fold8 Ultra is engineered for demanding workloads with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, a larger 5,000 mAh battery and a new dual‑path charging architecture with 45W fast charging. An expanded graphite cooling structure improves thermal conductivity, keeping the device responsive during heavy tasks. Despite its capabilities, Fold8 Ultra remains Samsung’s slimmest Z Fold yet at just 4.1 mm unfolded and 215 g.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 focuses on expression, quick interaction and AI‑native experiences. As Samsung’s slimmest and lightest Flip at 180 g and 6.1 mm, it brings information and creativity closer to everyday moments. The reimagined FlexWindow acts as an AI‑native interface, surfacing apps, insights and actions directly on the cover screen. Now Brief provides timely insights and next steps, while Gemini Intelligence enables automation through side‑key activation or natural voice requests.
Flip8 enhances Samsung’s signature FlexCam experience with a 50 MP camera powered by the ProVisual Engine. Users can capture detailed portraits with natural skin tones and dynamic bokeh. Flex Mode supports hands‑free shooting from multiple angles, while Camcorder Grip with Zoom Rocker improves stability. Super Steady with Horizontal Lock keeps footage smooth, and FlipShot and Mirror view enable expressive selfies and real‑time previews.
Samsung emphasizes trust, transparency and user control as AI becomes more personal. Samsung Knox protects devices from the chip up, while Personal Data Engine enables context‑aware on‑device AI. Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection and Knox Vault secure sensitive information. One UI 9 introduces an AI Assistant Activity dashboard for reviewing AI automations, and enhanced Privacy Alerts notify users of potential risks.
The new Galaxy Z series is available for pre‑order in select markets with multiple color options, including online‑exclusive shades. Samsung is offering a six‑month free trial of Google AI Pro with 5 TB of cloud storage. Smart Switch now supports seamless migration from iOS via QR code, transferring more data types including passwords, passkeys and eSIM data. Quick Share’s new compatibility with AirDrop enables smooth file sharing between Galaxy and iOS devices.
Samsung Care+ provides comprehensive protection, with customers receiving three free months when enrolling in a monthly plan through Samsung.com. One UI 9’s new Warranty and care hub centralizes diagnostics, repair requests and support.
