Sony launches splash-proof wearable video camera

Sony Middle East and Africa FZE has introduced its new Splash- proof Wearable Action Cam, the HDR-AS100V, which records high quality HD footage at 60 Mbps in XAVC-S format. The camera’s slim design slices through air and water with little resistance, and the splash-proof body means you don’t need a waterproof case while snorkeling. With a cool new white finish, Action Cam reflects the sun’s rays even when you’re sand boarding down arid dunes in the scorching heat.

Designed for people on the move, the HDR-AS100V camera features an uprated new ZEISS Tessar® 170-degree wide angle lens, 13.5 megapixel Exmor R™ CMOS sensor and powerful new BIONZ X image processor that produces crisp and clear footage.

For the first time, Action Cam can now capture Full HD footage with high bit-rate recording at up to 60 Mbps, using the new XAVC-S video format. In addition, up to five Action Cam AS100V units can be controlled wirelessly with the wearable wristwatch-style RM-LVR1 Live-View Remote.

Suitable for outdoor use, whether on roads, hills, snow or in the water, the slim design camera is water proof and reflects the sun’s rays thanks to its white finish. Advanced SteadyShot, meanwhile keeps footage more stable and blur-free with 2.5x improved performance compared to its predecessor. As a value-addition, Action Cam can shoot high-quality video at high-speed 120 fps or 240 fps with sound.

The camera also provides a range of creative options with the addition of New Interval Still Recording, which automatically shoots a sequence of still photos at selectable intervals between one and 60 seconds. This can then be replayed in sequence for a time lapse-style documentary of lengthy journeys. There’s also a ‘flip’ function that inverts footage if the camera is mounted on a helmet or microlight.

The addition of a second tally light on top of Action Cam gives instant visual assurance of recording start-stop status, whether the camera is located above or below your eye-level. Easy mounting options are also increased with the addition of a new tripod adaptor for simple fixing without the need to add a skeleton frame.

A choice of colour settings gives extra creative flexibility for footage editing. Shoot video with ‘Neutral’ image quality, or spice up footage with ‘Vivid’ that accentuates rich, powerful colors for extra impact. And for pro-focused film directors, Action Cam now records video with time code, helping synchronise shots when editing scenes from multiple cameras.

The camera’s NFC capability allows connections with Xperia and other compatible smartphones and tablets. Users can transfer footage wirelessly to their mobile device for easy sharing and a one-touch connection also launches the PlayMemories Mobile app on smartphones allowing quick checking of camera angles directly from the mobile’s screen.

The new Action Cam HDR-AS100V wearable video camera by Sony is now available at select Jumbo Showrooms and authorised dealers across the UAE.
