Review: Alcatel OneTouch X1

The Alcatel OneTouch X1 is a phone which has the Android OS of version 4.2.1 Jelly Bean which is little from the past as there are many smartphones available today with the upgraded version of the OS. But it is regarded as one of the best versions of Android by many users.

The lightweight 5.0-inch screen phone offers a resolution of 1080-by-1920 pixels, which is really a great feature in this phone. The 2GB RAM is fairly good for the phone’s performance if you don’t overload the phone with lots of data and unnecessary applications. Then there is a 13MP camera which can get you the perfect image that you would love to have and with the 2000mAh Li-Ion battery, you can expect the phone to atleast run a full day and a half without charging.

But that depends on the usage of the phone. The memory of the phone is 8 or 16 GB as inbuilt and there is the Micro SD slot which you can use to expand the memory to 32GB. And this is the place where this phone is lying back as most of the phones of these days have huge extendable memory even up to 200GB.

The main networks which are supported by the phone are GSM and HSPA and there is either single or dual SIM facility with all the SIM as micro SIM. The dimensions of the phone are 140.4-by-67.5-by-6.9mm which makes the phone weigh around 130 grams. The display of the phone is supported by the IPS LCD capacitive touch screen with 16M colours.

There is multi touch option along with the glass which is totally scratch resistant. The Chipset of the phone is from Mediatek MT6589 and the CPU is from Quad- core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A7 and the GPU is from PowerVR SGX544. The camera of the phone has the autofocus and LED flash features along with the Geo-tagging, face detection and the touch focus options.

The video gets recorded at the premium quality and resolution of 1080p and the secondary camera is of 2.1 MP. The sound formats supported by the phone are MP3, WAV ringtones along with these there are loudspeakers and the jack for 3.5mm headphone.

On the connectivity front, there are Wi-Fi, Hotspot, DLNA, and so on. The Bluetooth is of v4.0. A2DP and there is GPS with A-GPS. There is FM radio along with the RDS features. There is the USB port of v2.0.

The sensors which are there in the phone are accelerometer, compass and the proximity. The supported formats of messages are the SMS with the tread view, MMS, Push Email, Email and the IM. The supported browsers type is HTML and there is document viewer, photo editor etc. Another major aspect is that the battery is non- removable.

The phone is fairly good but could have much more upgraded factors but the price of the phone is reasonable according to the features it currently comes with.

Price: AED 899
