Lenovo Announces ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25

Lenovo is marking twenty-five years since the launch of the first ThinkPad with something special. The company announced the ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 to celebrate the milestone.

The most notable design cues appear to have been in the works for some time. The ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 largely resembles a retro-inspired concept put forth by former Lenovo Chief Design Officer David Hill in 2015. What likely stands out the most is the multi-colored ThinkPad logo on the lower right corner of the base, but the blue “enter” key is striking as well. The line’s signature trackpoint is on board, as are a backlit seven-row keyboard and dedicated volume buttons.

Though it has classic flair, the ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 is very much a modern laptop in terms of specs. On the inside, Lenovo says to expect an Intel Core i7-7500U processor and discrete NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics. That’s in addition to a touch-enabled 14-inch FHD display. Port options include an SD card slot, HDMI, ethernet, and USB 3.0.

If the ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 sounds like it’s up your alley, you’ll want to prepare your wallet. Lenovo says the laptop will be available in select countries starting at $1,899.
