Huawei has officially introduced its latest foldable smartphone called the P50 Pocket. The new device is Huawei’s first clamshell foldable smartphone with a patented hinge mechanism that has no visible gaps when closed.
The new P50 Pocket features a 6.9-inch 120Hz OLED screen with an aspect ratio that is 21:9 tall, and the screen resolution is rated at 2790 x 1188. There is also a punch-hole selfie camera on the display. The outer 1-inch cover screen not only shows the time, date, and notifications but also displays service widgets for both first and third-party apps. Users will be able to continue using an app on the cover screen once they close the main display. For example, while using the maps on the main display, you will be able to continue navigating on the cover screen after the main display is closed.
As for the camera department, there are three cameras that sit next to the cover display on a circular module. The main camera packs a 40MP shooter with a 26mm lens, along with a 13MP camera with f/2.2 as its aperture. The third camera features a 32MP with f/1.8 as its aperture. The device is powered by the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 888 SoC and the memory configuration comes on 8GB or 12GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. The smartphone runs on Harmony OS.
The smartphone also packs a 4000 mAh battery with support for 40W fast wired charging. The P50 Pocket is 7.2mm thick when in unfolded form and 15.2mm thick when folded. And the device weighs about 190g.
The Huawei P50 Pocket comes in a white, black, and special edition with gold trim colors. There is no word yet of the official release and pricing of the Huawei P50 Pocket in the UAE. Nevertheless, we will be sure to inform you about any local updates.
