The all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class has arrived across the showrooms of Emirates Motor Company (EMC) in Abu Dhabi, UAE, retaining its title as the undisputed leader of intelligence, power, performance and luxury.
Being one of the largest markets for the best-selling luxury sedan in the world, Abu Dhabi hosted the annual Regional Training Experience (RTE) and EMC, as the authorized distributor for Mercedes-Benz in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, welcomed sales consultants and managers from across the GCC at their state-of-the-art and world’s largest Mercedes-Benz facility this August.
Chris Edwards, EMC General Manager Passenger Cars commented, “We are pleased that Mercedes-Benz Middle East brought this intensive regional training to our premises as it is crucial to comprehend how this extraordinary machine operates. The 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class has taken another big step towards autonomous driving elevating the Intelligent Drive System to the next level.
“The Regional Training Experience has allowed participants to engage and interact with this new technology. The overall training was focussed on the new S-Class face-lift, as well as the hybrid technologies existing in vehicles of Mercedes- Benz now available in Abu Dhabi.” Participants from all over the GCC attended the two waves in Abu Dhabi for the first time. The training started off with presentations on the new S-Class specification and highlights, and ended with competitor showroom visits entailing a couple of mystery shopping exercises.
In line with EMC’s, and its parent company ALFAHIM’s, strategy of supporting Abu Dhabi toward Sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint, an upgraded plug-in hybrid variant, the Mercedes-Benz S 560 e, will also be offered in the region later this year. Thanks to the significantly increased battery capacity the range for all-electric driving will increase by 67% to about 50 km. Moreover, in conjunction with the new Mercedes-Benz Wallbox, the on-board 7.2-kW charger allows much faster charging of the battery.
On an interior level, the all-new S-Class offers an unparalleled level of comfort for drivers and passengers, alike. Owing to the world-first ENERGIZING comfort control feature, one can now link various comfort systems, such as, climate control and massage functions. The new feature also allows customers to configure specific wellness set-ups to suit their mood and enhance physical comfort and performance on the road.
The all new Mercedes-AMG S 63 4MATIC+ has a sprint time of 3.5 seconds from zero to 100 km/h, with a new AMG 4.0-litre V-8 Biturbo engine. It is equipped with the new AMG 4.0-litre V-8 Biturbo engine with cylinder deactivation, which replaces the previous 5.5-litre V-8 Biturbo engine. The new engine puts out 450 kW (612 hp) and thus exactly 20 kW (27 hp) more than the preceding model.
With a sprint time of 3.5 seconds from zero to 100 km/h, the performance luxury sedan is on par with full-blooded sports cars. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9‑speed sports transmission replaces the previous 7-speed gearbox, to enable even more agile response times. The fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system provides optimal traction.
Exterior-wise, modern luxury in the new S-Class is affirmed with the highest quality materials and uncompromising workmanship. All models are fitted with a new radiator grille: the versions with six and eight-cylinder engines sport three twin louvres as well as vertical strips with a high-gloss black finish. The V-12 model variants are fitted with additional chrome-finish vertical strips in the radiator grille. Seven new light-alloy wheels with diameters between 17 and 20 inches have been introduced on the new model.
The S-Class GCC models come with panoramic sunroof as standard, as well as a Sun Protection Package to protect passengers from direct sunlight and reduce the interior temperature of the car. Additionally, memory front seats come as standard in the GCC models, automatically adjusting the driver’s seat to their preferred setting.
