The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x 14 CoPilot+ PC is the latest laptop to come with Snapdragon based processors. We got a chance to try out the new laptop, and here are our thoughts about it.
Design
The Lenovo Yoga series laptops are known for their stylish designs and slim form-factors, and the Yoga Slim 7x 14 is no exception here. The laptop features a dimension of 325mm x 225.15mm x 12.9mm, and weighs around 1.28 kg. The chassis comes in an attractive-looking blue color, which Lenovo calls it the Cosmic Blue. The display is one of the best features of the laptop, featuring a stellar 14.5-inch OLED panel, along with 2944 x 1840 as the screen resolution, 16:10 as the aspect ratio, and 90 Hz refresh rate.
Thanks to the PureSight OLED panel, the contrast ratio is amazing, and it produces deep blacks. The screen is also certified with DisplayHDR True Black 600, and the screen is capable of a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The display also supports touchscreen operations and comes with TÜV Low Blue Light certification. The display also provides coverage for 100% sRGB and 100% P3 colors.
The front-facing camera on the top of the screen comes with a 1080p sensor and IR technology. For those who are concerned with privacy, the webcam comes with an e-Privacy camera shutter.
The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x 14 CoPilot+ PC also comes with connectivity options, which include two USB-C ports on the left side with support for 40Gbps speeds, Power Delivery 3.1, and DisplayPort 1.4 connections. There is one more USB-C port on the right side, along with the power button, and a dedicated switch for the privacy shutter.
While the laptop lacks ports such as a full-sized USB and HDMI, Lenovo also supplies a port extender with the device. The extender is white in color and features a full sized HDMI port, USB port, 3.5mm audio jack, and even a VGA port.
The Yoga Slim 7x 14 CoPilot+ PC comes with a great keyboard, featuring 1.5mm key travel, and 0.3mm dish shaped keycaps. The typing experience on this keyboard is great, and the trackpad is spacious. Lenovo also mentions that the keyboard is designed to be durable and resistant to grease. There are two speakers also located on either side of the keyboard. There is also a dedicated key for Windows CoPilot.
The bottom panel of the laptop comes with dual speakers on either side, along with a wide mesh for air flow.
The rear side of the lid comes with the same Cosmic Blue colors, along with the Lenovo logo placed in the middle portion.
Performance
The main highlight of the Yoga Slim 7x 14 CoPilot+ PC is the fast ARM based Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite SoC (the X1E-78-100 version), and the onboard memory is 32GB LPDDR5 RAM, along with a Samsung PCIe 4.0 SSD with Windows 11 Home installed. Just as the ASUS Vivobook S15 CoPilot+ PC that we reviewed earlier, the performance of the new Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x 14 CoPilot+ PC is just as impressive. We love how instantly the system boots up, and especially when we open applications, the wait time is noticeably lesser than normal x86 systems.
We ran some benchmarks, which include 3DMark FireStrike/TimeSpy, Geekbench 6 (ARM), and CrystalDiskMark. Check out the scores below.
Benchmarks
The laptop also houses a 70Whr battery with support for Rapid Charge Express that provides 3 hours of battery life with a 15-minute recharge. Thanks to the efficiency of the Snapdragon X Elite SoC, I was able to get almost a day of usage, while I watched dozens of videos online, worked through my editorial tasks, opened word and excel documents, some ZOOM calls, and more. And these were done using the battery performance mode. Switching to the efficiency battery mode will surely fetch more hours of battery time.
Other features include the latest WiFi 7 802.11BE (2 x 2) and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless connectivity. While I had reviewed the SUS Vivobook S15 CoPilot+ PC, I had specifically mentioned the compatibility of x86 apps with ARM chips, especially antivirus solutions. While Bitdefender already provides support for ARM chips with Windows, Avast also recently announced its support for ARM systems as well, and it worked well during our testing. Unfortunately, AV solution providers such as Kaspersky and Malwarebytes have yet to provide support for ARM chips with Windows systems.
Verdict
We are impressed with the performance and capability of the Yoga Slim 7x 14 CoPilot+ PC, Lenovo’s latest offering to come with the Snapdragon X Elite ARM processor. The laptop comes with a thin and light chassis, and Cosmic Blue as the color. The device weighs about 1.28 kg and the 14.5-inch OLED panel features excellent viewing angles and contrast ratio. The screen resolution is 2944 x 1840, and the refresh rate is 90 Hz.
The laptop comes with a total of four speakers and four mics, along with a 1080p webcam. The Snapdragon X Elite chip offers great performance and power efficiency, and is joined with 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD with Windows 11 Home.
