Samsung Electronics has introduced the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, marking what the company calls “a new era of effortless health,” where users gain meaningful insights simply by wearing the devices.
Samsung claims that the watches are designed to “unlock in-depth, meaningful health insights simply by wearing these devices,” supported by Samsung’s largest battery, brightest display, and the Snapdragon Wear Elite Platform. TM Roh emphasized Samsung’s shift toward proactive care, noting that the new watches “act as a vigilant health companion, turning daily vital signs into proactive, actionable insights.”
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is positioned as Samsung’s most advanced watch to date, engineered for extreme outdoor performance, durability, and continuous health monitoring. It introduces specialized tracking modes for outdoor sports, including Trail Run, which monitors elevation, climbing progress, and terrain impact to help users pace themselves and reduce injury risk. The watch also expands hydration guidance through Nutrition Alert, building on Samsung’s Sweat Loss feature to estimate sweat loss relative to body weight and recommend hydration levels.
The Ultra2 is also designed for professional diving, with IP69K, 10 ATM, and EN13319 certifications. The document notes that “the moment the user enters the water, it can automatically track real-time diving data such as depth, time and water temperature right from their wrist.” Advanced diving features, including ascent and descent speed tracking and safe dive limits, will be available through the Ultra2 Diving app developed with Mares.
To support these demanding features, the Ultra2 includes a significantly larger 800 mAh battery, a 35% increase over the previous model, and delivers the world’s first 5,000‑nit smartwatch display for visibility in intense sunlight. Despite the larger battery, Samsung achieved a slimmer design, reducing thickness by 12% while maintaining a shock‑resistant titanium casing. Lighter, softer bands further enhance comfort for 24/7 wearability.
The Galaxy Watch9 is designed as an everyday wellness companion, offering continuous activity and sleep tracking with a lightweight aluminum casing and refined cushion silhouette for a more natural wrist fit. A wide selection of soft-touch interchangeable bands ensures all-day comfort. The Snapdragon Wear Elite platform boosts speed and efficiency, while a 390 mAh battery supports around‑the‑clock tracking. A 3,000‑nit display ensures clear visibility in any lighting condition.
Both watches are powered by Samsung’s AI-driven health ecosystem. The BioActive sensor continuously captures biometric data and translates it into personalized recommendations. These capabilities are built on years of clinical research with leading universities and medical institutions. Key features include FDA-cleared Sleep Apnea detection, Vitals monitoring for deviations in baseline health, Heart Health Score for cardiovascular insights, Daily Cardio Load for training optimization, Fitness Index for overall performance assessment, and Hearing protection alerts.
Samsung has also introduced purpose-built band collections for both models. Ultra bands include the Marine Band for extreme conditions, the PeakForm Band for hybrid elegance and performance, and the Trail Band for breathable comfort during outdoor activities. The Watch9 band collection emphasizes self-expression with new materials and vibrant colors, including the Sports Band, Misty Band, and Fabric Band.
Samsung Care+ provides comprehensive protection, including accidental damage repairs, extended warranty coverage, and expert support. Users can manage their Care+ plan through a new Warranty and care menu on Galaxy phones running One UI 9, offering quick access to diagnostics, repair requests, and remote support.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Watch9 also come with exclusive subscription trials. A Strava 60‑day free trial allows users to join a global community of 195 million active members, track workouts on their watch, and explore new routes. An iFIT 2‑month free trial offers guided workouts with elite trainers and global destinations, accessible through Samsung Health.
Together, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 represent Samsung’s most ambitious step toward proactive, AI-powered health, combining advanced hardware, rugged durability, and intelligent insights to support users across outdoor performance, everyday wellness, and long-term preventive care.
