Samsung unveils intelligent eyewear

Samsung introduced its new intelligent eyewear at Galaxy Unpacked in London, marking a significant expansion of the Galaxy ecosystem beyond the smartphone. Developed in collaboration with global eyewear leaders Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, the new wearable reflects Samsung’s vision for AI‑powered experiences that integrate naturally into daily routines, work, travel and hands‑free moments. As the document notes, the eyewear “shows how the Galaxy ecosystem can move beyond the mobile phone and into eyewear that supports daily routines, work, travel and hands-free moments.”

Designed for everyday use, the intelligent eyewear pairs a lightweight frame and slim profile with durability and comfort suitable for long wear. The collaboration with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker brings a range of frame styles, colors and lens options, blending Samsung’s hardware expertise with each brand’s distinctive design philosophy. According to Won‑Joon Choi, Samsung’s MX Business COO, “Intelligent eyewear creates a new point of interaction, bringing more personalized AI assistance naturally into the moments that make up everyday life.”

Samsung positions intelligent eyewear as a response to the agentic era of AI — where intelligence becomes more contextual, proactive and seamlessly embedded into the user’s environment. While smartphones remain central to connected experiences, the eyewear brings AI directly into the user’s line of sight, offering timely information and assistance without requiring a screen. Clear controls and safeguards ensure responsible use, while hands‑free access allows users to stay engaged with their surroundings. The eyewear is engineered for all‑day wearability, combining a lightweight frame with strong battery performance. It delivers up to nine hours of use on a single charge, with seven additional full charges available through the charging case. A built‑in camera adds visual context to AI interactions, while the Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 Platform supports real‑time assistance, optimized for touch interaction, connectivity, power efficiency and thermal management within the compact frame.

Developed with Google, the eyewear brings Gemini into a familiar wearable form factor, enabling more natural and intuitive interaction. Sameer Samat, President of Android Ecosystem at Google, said the device “blends world-class designs with Gemini’s advanced assistance that naturally responds to what you see, delivering all-day, hands-free help.”

Key experiences include summarizing long messages, reading information aloud, live translation, and voice or gesture‑based control through connected devices. Users can capture what they see — such as a whiteboard or meeting notes — and organize it in Notes for later review. Real‑time guidance supports navigation and contextual understanding of surroundings, while context‑aware assistance helps users continue tasks with less repetition. Live visual sharing enables users to share their point of view during calls or record hands‑free video.

Recognizing eyewear as both functional and expressive, Samsung worked with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to create designs that balance style, comfort and everyday practicality. At Unpacked, Samsung showcased two distinct design lines from the partner brands, offering users more choice in how they integrate intelligent eyewear into their personal style.
