OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro officially launched, sports Hasselblad cameras and 120Hz display

OnePlus has officially announced its latest flagship smartphones called the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro, featuring Hasselblad cameras, Snapdragon processor, fast charging, and more.

The company had collaborated with Hasselblad for a 150 million dollar partnership to assist in the development of camera technology. The OnePlus 9 Pro, which is is the high-end model of the two, comes with a 48MP image sensor. The new 48MP IMX789 is co-developed with Sony. The sensor is 1/1.43″ with 1.12um pixels, which means that the shooter will be able to capture images with more detail. The main camera comes with features such as dual native ISO, 2×2 on-chip lens, optical image stabilization, Digital Overlap HDR, and more.

The 48MP shooter is capable of outputting 12-bit RAW images. There is also a Hasselblad Pro Mode that allows users to tune-up the captured images for a natural look. You can also record 8K videos at 30fps and 4K videos way up to 120fps. The second camera also packs a 50MP image sensor with an ultra-wide lens. The image sensor used here is the IMX766 and the sensor size is 1/1.56″. This means that the OnePlus 9 Pro has two large mobile image sensors. The 50MP camera also comes with a freeform lens that helps to reduce distortion near the edges of the image to 1 percent. The shooter is also capable of capturing macro photos with a 4cm distance.

The OnePlus 9 Pro also comes with an 8MP telescope lens that offers 3.3x optical magnification. There is also a 2MP monochrome camera onboard. The device features a large 6.7-inch LTPO panel with Fluid Display 2.0 technology that is capable of delivering 50% power savings. The display is able to optimize the refresh rate of the display from 120Hz and down to 1Hz. The 1Hz mode activates when reading text or when the Always On Display mode is on. The display also automatically switches to 24Hz while watching movies and 90Hz when playing games such as Fortnite. The screen resolution is 1440p+ and has a 10-bit color depth. The brightness of the display shoots up to 1300 nits. The screen also has 240Hz touch sampling rate to improve the response time.

The new flagship comes powered by the latest Snapdragon 888 chipset and joined with 8GB/12GB LPDDR5 RAM and the UFS 3.1 internal storage are 128GB/256GB options. The new OnePlus 9 Pro packs a large 4500 mAh battery with a new 50W wireless fast charge support that can fill the battery in just 43 minutes. OnePlus calls it the Warp Charge 50 Wireless. And with a fast 30W wired charger, you can achieve full charge in just 29 minutes. The design of the 9 Pro is that it features an aluminum frame in between two glass panels.

When it comes to the base model, the OnePlus 9 is a bit downgraded and the main camera features the IMX689, which is an older 48MP image sensor. The sensor also comes with capabilities such as dual native ISO, 12-bit RAW output. 2×2 on-chip lens and more. The base model also loses out on OIS and 4K videos at 120fps as compared to the Pro model. However, the OnePlus 9 does feature 8K videos at 30fps and 4K videos up to 60fps. Despite the downgrades, OnePlus has still preloaded the device with the Hasselblad Pro Mode for the camera application. The 50MP camera for ultra-wide photography and the 2MP monochrome shooter remains the same. However, the base model does not come with a telephoto camera.

The OnePlus 9 has a smaller 6.55-inch AMOLED panel with a screen resolution of 1080p+. The 120Hz refresh rate is there but the company implemented the older first-generation Fluid Display technology and the screen is not adaptive as the Pro model. The display also has 1100 nits of brightness and is HDR10+ certified. You get the same Snapdragon 888 chipset with Cool Play cooling system, along with similar RAM and storage configurations. Both the OnePlus 9 and the Pro variant come with Dolby Atmos dual stereo speakers, along with improved haptic feedback motors. Both the models come with a 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.4 as its aperture.

The OnePlus 9 will come in Winter Mist, Artic Sky, and Astral Black colors. The OnePlus 9 Pro model comes in Stellar Black, Pine Green, and Morning Mist colors.
