Ferrari unveils new electric sports car Ferrari Luce

Ferrari has unveiled the Ferrari Luce in Rome, marking a significant milestone in the company’s history and the culmination of its multi-energy strategy first outlined in 2022. The launch carries symbolic importance, as Ferrari’s first-ever victory took place in Rome in 1947 when the Ferrari 125 S won the Gran Premio di Roma, setting the foundation for the brand’s legendary success.

The Ferrari Luce represents Ferrari’s entry into a new era of high-performance electric mobility while remaining true to its philosophy of technological neutrality. Rather than replacing traditional powertrains, electrification expands Ferrari’s possibilities in performance, design, and driving experience. Developed entirely in-house at Maranello, the project has generated more than 60 patents and reinforces Ferrari’s commitment to innovation, quality, and long-term customer support.

Designed in collaboration with LoveFrom, the design collective led by Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson, the Ferrari Luce introduces a fresh design language while preserving Ferrari’s unmistakable identity. A bespoke electric architecture allows for an unprecedented combination of performance, spaciousness, and versatility. For the first time in Ferrari’s history, the vehicle offers four doors and five seats, creating a practical yet distinctly Ferrari driving experience.

The exterior features a highly aerodynamic design with an exceptionally pure glasshouse, transparent light panels, halo-inspired tail lights, and custom wheels measuring 23 inches at the front and 24 inches at the rear. Inside, premium materials including recycled anodised aluminium, Corning Gorilla Glass, and fine leather complement a driver-focused cockpit that blends physical controls with advanced digital displays. A 21-speaker, 3,000-watt audio system further enhances the cabin experience.

Built on a dedicated electric platform, the Ferrari Luce delivers remarkable performance. Its four electric motors, one for each wheel, produce a combined output of 1,050 cv, enabling acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Top speed exceeds 310 km/h, while a 122 kWh battery provides a driving range of more than 530 kilometres. Fast-charging capability supports up to 350 kW.

Ferrari has focused heavily on dynamic performance and driver engagement. Advanced torque vectoring, independent rear-wheel steering, active suspension derived from the F80, and real-time control of traction, steering, and vertical wheel movement ensure exceptional agility and precision. A newly developed Vehicle Control Unit coordinates all powertrain and chassis functions, updating vehicle responses 200 times per second.

A standout feature is Ferrari’s innovative approach to sound. Rather than creating artificial audio, the system captures and amplifies the natural vibrations of the electric powertrain, delivering an authentic soundtrack that enhances the driving experience. Combined with extensive noise, vibration, and harshness optimisation, Ferrari describes the Luce as its most comfortable road car ever.

Aerodynamic efficiency is another key achievement. The Ferrari Luce delivers the lowest drag coefficient in the company’s road-car history while offering exceptional interior space. Sustainable engineering also plays a role, with extensive use of recycled aluminium reducing production-related CO₂ emissions by approximately 70% of the vehicle’s overall weight.

The Ferrari Luce opens a new chapter for the Prancing Horse, combining cutting-edge electric technology, exceptional performance, and innovative design while remaining faithful to Ferrari’s tradition of pushing the boundaries of automotive engineering.

Commenting on the launch of Luce, Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari, said, “We are convinced that a company demonstrates its leadership when it has the courage to dare and to take on the challenge of new technologies. Ferrari Luce was born precisely from this challenge, offering our unprecedented vision of electrification. Never before have we offered our clients such freedom of choice. In line with our belief in technological neutrality, we are the first in the world to combine fully electric, hybrid and combustion engine architectures for sports cars. We have not limited ourselves to innovation in powertrains; with Luce, we have launched a whole new segment in our range. This model is the result of more than 60 of our new patents and lies at the heart of an ecosystem of collaborations with outstanding technology partners. We have created a car that combines unique driving emotions with extraordinary performance, driving pleasure, and comfort for the Ferraristi of today and tomorrow”.
