Sony has launched its latest lens-style cameras to provide customers the flexibility of sharing images on the smartphone with the imaging power and creative options of a premium camera.
The new lens-style cameras can be connected to the smartphone via Wi-Fi. One-touch connection speeds by near field communication (NFC) for all lens-style cameras is faster than previous generation, with firmware upgrades for the QX100 and QX10 cameras and improvements to the PlayMemories Mobile app.
The latest release of Sony’s free PlayMemories Mobile app version 5.0 for Android and iOS smartphones enables easy control of each lens-style camera. A new user interface simplifies the photography experience and makes it easier to operate with one hand.
Framing shots on the phone is more intuitive thanks to on-screen gridlines that are now featured in the app. GPS adds location information to images that’s transferred to the smartphone while shooting. The camera can share pictures from the touchscreen and also automatically to the phone.
ILCE-QX1
The E-mount/A-mount (requires LA-EA4 adaptor for A-mount lenses) lens collections allows users to zoom, wide angle, tele or macro and have control over exposure, focus and shooting modes.
The camera’s APS-C size Exmor CMOS sensor with 20.1-megapixels grabs huge amounts of flawless detail, as expected from a much bigger camera. It’s teamed with Sony’s advanced BIONZ X processor that now features improved area specific noise reduction. The lens produces low-noise images even while shooting in near-darkness.
The big sensor inside the QX1 also helps create pro-style ‘bokeh’ effects with creamy background blur – a trick that smartphones can’t match.
Superior Auto recognises dozens of different scenes – like landscapes or backlit portraits – adjusting camera settings for top-quality results. For those photographers who enjoy post-production editing, the QX1 can shoot RAW image files and using QX1, use pop-up flash to brighten up portraits, gloomy interiors and night scenes.
The LCS-QXA Case and Strap Kit add a touch of luxury with its tough brown leather-look finish. The QX1 is protected with a choice of shoulder strap or belt-mounting options.
DSC-QX30
High-zoom shots are crisp and clear with the compact DSC-QX30 and the powerful 30x optical zoom lens aided by Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation that helps to eliminate blurring.
Users can smoothly zoom from a wide angle 24mm shot to a huge 720mm equivalent length at the telephoto end, for frame-filling full-length close-ups of objects 40m away. The clear image zoom option focuses to a massive 60x magnification without compromising on pixel count.
Zoom power is matched by Lock-on AF and speedy continuous shooting at up to 10fps, letting one capture fast-moving action with a crisply-focused burst of split-second images. It shoots fabulous Full HD video at a smooth 60p frame rate at the touch of a button.
These are compatible with Sony’s wearable RM-LVR1 and RM-LVR2V Live view Remote controls. These wrist-mount controllers let you check images and select shots from up to five connected cameras simultaneously – great for multi-angle recordings.
Sony’s latest lens-style cameras are currently available across all Jumbo Electronics showrooms and select electronics retailers in the UAE.
